Colin Cowherd posts his "Blazing 5" picks every Friday afternoon on ESPN radio or ESPNU (tv) where picks 5 games in the NFL and tells what to pick spread wise.
For the year (after 7 weeks) the guy is 24-11 picking NFL ATS. He is sharp and understands most sports in general. If you hear his radio show you know what I mean. Last two weeks he went 4-1 each week.
After seeing a lot of decent SBR cappers picks this week I heard his picks and he basically went the opposite of what I or a lot of other picked for week 8 though.
This concerns me considering he is for the most part "sharp"....however I feel this is the week he probably regresses to the mean. I wanted the boards thoughts on this though.
Cowherd's Week 8 Picks:
Falcons (+3) at Eagles
Browns (+2.5) vs. Chargers
Seahawks ML vs. Lions
Dolphins (+2) at NY Jets
Giants (-1.5) at Cowboys
He basically stated that with both the Falcons and Eagles coming off bye weeks the Falcons were better rushing off the edge and Eagles O-line has trouble protecting the edges so Vick could be in for a long game. Also he stated Matty Ice doesn't make many mistakes and Vick is good for at least 1-2 a game. He said Falcons 23-17 take this one.
Cowherd also said the Browns have been in every game this season and a lot of their young draft picks are panning out like Joe Haden (teamed up with Sheldon Brown lead the NFL corner back tandem with 10 INT's so far this year), Joe Thomas anchors a good solid and young O-Line and Trent Richardson should suit up and is a beast at RB. He feels the Chargers are sloppy and just not cohesive. (I disagree)
He loves the Seahawks defense (but I am not buying that Seattle is as good at Detroit as they are in Seattle) but Colin does apparently. He also says the Lions without Nate Burleson will be in trouble this week against a top Seattle secondary. (I like Detroit at home)
Giants,Cowherd said.....should cover to avenge their opening week loss at home to the Cowboys and that the Giants play very well down in Dallas' new stadium. They should continue that trend and try to go 2-2 against division foes in the NFC. (I agree with him here.)
Colin Cowherd thinks the Jets just aren't that talented and should have lost the first game to Miami that they won in OT. He feels the Dolphins' defense is way better and offense is slightly better than the Jets and that Tannehill vs. Sanchez is a minor edge to Sanchez. But with the trash talking the Jets Defense is doing this week it leads to a "poor culture" in the Jets locker room and will end up costing them this game 28-23 in Miami.
Basically it seems like Cowherd's pick this week is going against a lot of what I saw some SBR posters pick for NFL week 8. Is it time to fade Cowherd this week?
What do you guys think?
