Doing some homework. Here are some notes from last weeks games.

    Vikings @ Redskins. Week 6

I know RG3 had the stats but I wasn't impressed by either QB.

    Christian Ponder.
Positives: He could take a hit, he operated quickly. Other than that no positives. Very unimpressed.
Negatives: INACCURATE. I will point out 2 key examples. On 1 short screen pass he had I believe Kyle Rudolph in the open field with nobody around him and lots of room to run but Ponder threw the ball behind him incomplete. It could have cost the Vikings 20 yards on what should have been a routine throw. Another one was a pass to a RB that was literally 2 yards in front of the LOS and Ponder threw a floater that was picked off and run back for a TD. It was one of the worst picks you will ever see but RG3 might have out did him. The vikings offense was incredibly simplistic. Ponder's throws were mostly all short, and some intermediate. Nothing long.

    RG3
Positives: This skill set opens up the Redskins playbook. He was more accurate.
Negatives: RG3 is rolling out to the sidelines and there is a receiver about 10 yards away with Antwain Winfield firmly in front of him. RG3 STILL tries to throw it to the receiver. HUH? Are you stupid? You couldn't possibly have NOT seen winfield. WTF were you thinking? That had to be one of the dumbest Aaron Brooks interceptions I've ever seen.

RG3 completed a lot of passes but a lot of them were also short OR they were part of the wildcat package. The Redskins read option run was very effective. The redskins run it to put pressure on the OLB but they kept faking the read option and going play action and throwing the ball on a quick slant to where the OLB should be. I give credit to the coaching staff to drawing that one up. It's hard to defend and it's a simple 1 read throw for RG3. It was their most effective play and it resulted in lots of easy 10 yard completions where the receiver has a chance to run for more.

I have to admit the redskins run a hybrid offense that looks nothing like any NFL team. It's a college football offense. If RG3 gets hurt they can't run any of those plays and if he keeps running 10-15 times per game he's going to get hurt.

You might ask yourself, how did a game with two QB's that only threw short conservative throws get so high scoring? Turnovers/short fields.

    Lions @ Eagles week 6

Game started off very sloppy for both teams. Lots of penalties.

    Lions offense was very unimpressive.
    Stafford throws into double teams.
Stafford had 7 straight incompletions at one point in the 3rd quarter.
In the previous game I mentioned that Christian Ponder noticeably operated fast, Vick noticeably operates slow.
I still like the Eagles offensive system I just don't like how they run it.
Celek had a TD called back.
Vick had one of his better games IMO save for a dumb 4th Q pick into double coverage.
He still held onto the ball too long and took unneeded hits but was a better passer this game.
Megatron had a TD called back
I hated the Lions play calling, why not throw it more to Megatron?
Too many penalties in this game, even on extra point attempts the whistles are going off.
Nate Burelson had a nice TD dance. Flapped his wings and then shot the bird down.
Lions have the ball at the 1 yard line to win the game, they throw into coverage twice and don't run the ball?
    Lions coach is a moron.

    Patriots @ Seattle week 6

Patriots have the best offense in the NFL - Seattle's defense looks good.
Seattle is a very tough place to win on the road.
It seems Bellicheck's plan is to stop Marshawn Lynch
Russell wilson made some plays, still has room for improvement.
Seattle's defense had a number of hard hits.
Brandon Lloyds sideline catch on the final drive was very close.
On a per play basis New England clearly outplayed Seattle. It was an improbable win.

    Colts @ Jets week 6

Luck making the right reads but some inaccurate throws early.
Colts running a much more pro style offense than the other rookie QB's.
Jets running all over the Colts
Luck had a tipped pass intended for R. Wayne that was INT'd by cromartie run back by a TD, they kept the INT but called back the td.
    Jets seem very fired up.
Jets ran for 106 yards in the first half. Good blocking, broken tackles by S. Greene, poor run defense by colts.
Sanchez nearly picked off by Bethea on a dumb throw.
Luck's WRs aren't very good and aren't helping him much.
Tom Zibikowski looks like he put on a lot of weight.
Joe Mcknight had a long run and is a good change of pace to s. greene.
200 jets rushing yards through 3 quarters
    Jets defense played well.
The good thing about Luck is that he has a good internal clock in his head. He didn't hold onto the ball forever and didn't rely on all check downs, screen plays and all designed plays like the other rookies. He drops back and reads the defense.

    Bills @ 49ers week 5

49ers first drive lots of conservative play calling for alex smith
Leodis Mckelvin ran back the punt return for a TD they called a hold. He looked very very very fast.
Michael Crabtree looks like a good WR with a not so good qb.
Harbaugh really tries to make the 49ers offense dummy proof for alex smith.
Alex Smith still has good speed and the 49ers utilize his legs
49ers backups finished the game. Their offensive and defensive lines dominated this game.

Packers at Colts from a few weeks ago.

The Packers are one of my favorite offenses to watch thanks to the QB play.
The Packers are awesome at passing but need more from the run game. It could have served them well to attack the colts run D more. I feel like if the packers want to do well in the playoffs and make it easier on rodgers they would be served well to develope a run game.

The Colts are really lacking talent. Besides Luck an aging reggie wayne, a one trick pass rush pony in Freeney or Bethea how many good players do they really have? Their young tight ends show promise but this team needs some play makers.

Packers up 21-3, I feel like they went on cruise control and took their foot off the gas pedal. Maybe they underestimated the colts ability to come back?

Luck had a ball that looked like it was picked up called back. I felt like the colts had some helpful calls from the refs. They had another pass interference call that was iffy. The game is 21-19 and I have no idea how it is that close.

Donald Brown really sucks. I've never been a fan of this guy, wasted draft pick. He runs with little to no power and he doesn't have front line speed and I don't think he has any particularly good vision. What is he good for? There are numerous backup RB's that are better and many late round picks that are better. I have no idea why they wasted an early pick on him. He's a poor mans version of Joe Addai and he himself was let go.

345 yards for Andrew Luck. The Packers secondary should be shameful. Reggie Wayne and a rookie qb tore them up.

I'm sort of surprised how the whole thing went down knowing there was a ton of money on green bay and that vegas was making this a sucker bet. The bad calls, the no defense, the 50/50 plays going the colts way and the final fg miss. Andrew Luck got smashed on 1 sack - perfectly legal but they called it leading with the helmet on the defender and GAVE the colts 15 free yards. I look at the stat sheet after the game and see 345 yards for luck and wonder where they came from. One of the other things that lost the game is in the 3rd quarter the packers offense couldn't get into rythem. 3 and outs. I think they just felt they had the game.

    Rams @ Dolphins week 6

Richardson had a nice long run against a good dolphins run d.
Rams looked impressive in the 1st quarter.

Tannehill starts off 11/13 for over 100 yards and a TD against a rams defense that hasn't given up a TD in their prior 8 quarters. He was actually throwing the ball and not just a bunch of checkdowns. The dolphins offense looks pro style and I can't say that about all the other rookie qbs. I'm impressed thus far - for a rookie.

Steven Jackson can't do much against Miami's run defense. I don't think power is the way to attack them. I think the rookie richardson's speed would be a much better bet against them.

I could already see the impact Jeff Fisher is having on the Rams defense. They have an edge. Call them dirty call them scrappy.

Now that amedola is injured Bradford likes throwing to brandon gibson. He made a really nice 4th quarter catch one handed.
Laurenitus is having a good game. He plays aggressive.
Zuerlin the new rams kicker who made all his previous FGs missed 3 in the game.

I sort of like both teams potential. Tannehill intrigues me. He didn't get a ton of starts in college, played some WR and they say he is incredibly smart. He showed a lot of poise out there and ran a real offense. A lot of these rookies are throwing lots of planned dump offs and screens but he made good throws and even had some dropped that should have been caught. He already runs a more complex offense than Alex Smith or Christian Ponder or Russell Wilson or Rg3 and he ran it well. I give him credit.

The game was played at a pretty fast speed. People say that football changes when the weather gets colder but this was the exact opposite. A warm day in Miami and a fast game.

    Chiefs @ Tampa week 6

Brady Quinn start off conservative - understandable for the backup QB Josh Freeman throws a dumb pick. This running back is running in the flat and he ignores the chiefs OLB Houston who buzzed out and picked it off. Running a conservative offense is one thing, throwing picks in that conservative offense is another thing.

Chiefs running a conservative offense. Run, Run, Run, quick slant to dexter Mccluster, screen, run, quick slant to wr, run, quick pass to the tight end that was deflected and picked off by Tampa near the goal line by Mark Baron.

Tampa starts off conservative. 1st down Freeman rolls out and throws a dump off to his RB. 5 yard pass, run, freeman throws on 3rd and 6 and the chiefs drop a pick.

Chiefs run the ball on 3rd and 11 - a draw. So far the game plan has been ultraconservative for Brady Quinn.
Chiefs get 2 false starts on 4th down punt plays in a row. WTF is Romeo thinking?

Freeman throws downfield into tight coverage, Mike Williams flat out makes a play! He scores on the play.

Chiefs offense lacks all creativity. It's 2012 marty ball. They either have no confidence in quinn/cassell or think they can just run all over people. Charles looks good, his backup Droughnes looks decent but this is a passing NFL in 2012.

Mike williams made another nice catch 1 on 1 with stanford routt on him.

Freeman had some accuracy issues missing 2 easy passes in the span of a few plays.

The stands in this game look half full.

Chiefs throw a quick slant on 3rd down, ball is nearly caught by WR but bounces up and Rhonda Barber picks it off and runs it back for a TD. I agree it wasn't Brady quinns fault but the chiefs passing offense is awful and so predictable. The corner tried to jump the route because that 3 step drop/slant was so predictable. The chiefs passing game is pathetic.

Tambi Hali had a nice sack on Freeman.

Dough martin hasn't impressed me thus far as a 1st round RB.

Crazy play at the start of the 4th quarter. Chiefs are punting from around their 15 yard line. Punt is blocked by 2 chiefs and the ball is deflected back into the end zone. Instead of taking the safety the Tampa punter picks the ball up and starts running out of the end zone. He tries to throw a pass but is simultaneously hit in the back and the ball doesn't come out right and it is picked off by a chief and run back for a TD. Bad play by Tampa on so many levels.

At this point the Chiefs special teams has 7 points, their offense has 3. It his the Chiefs first TD in 8 quarters. Pathetic.

Chiefs showed an all out blitz to freeman. They had good coverage and freeman throw it downfield. The chiefs defender stanford route almost picked it off but tipped the pass up and underwood for tampa caught it and ran with it. Bad decision for freeman with a lucky outcome for a long gain.

Vincent Jackson made a real nice catch on his 2nd TD.

Besides a really dumb pick by Freeman in the 1st quarter, I can't remember him having a better game. He played pretty well. Big Credit to Mike Williams for making 2 big plays and making him look better but I think Freeman did a very good job.

    Bengals @ Browns week 6

    Apparently a pretty windy game.

Weeden had a ball deflected at the LOS and picked off by a Bengals D-Lineman.
Bengals Greshman had a hell of a TD run. Guy looked unstopable. 55 yard TD run with broken tackles.

Weeden a pretty long TD pass to a wide open Gordon.

Very windy game. A cleveland browns coaches play sheet blew all the way onto the Bengals side of the field right into head coach marvin lewis's hands. He looks at it a few seconds, folds it up and hands it to a head coach ????

Before this game I watched the Bucs/Chiefs game. The talent level between Trent Richardson and 1st round RB Doug Martin isn't even comparable. Richardson runs so much harder inside and he's faster on the outside. No comparison.

AJ Green made a nice catch of a lame duck in triple coverage.

Weeden does have a pretty strong arm. He's a former Minor leage baseball pitcher. The strong arm is helping him in this wind.

Bengals D-Line had good push on running downs. Geno Atkins was a disrupter.

Josh Cribbs was a non factor until a very nice return with 9 min left in the 3rd quarter.

Joe Hayden picked a deflected Andy Dalton pass off.

Cleveland is doing a good job pass blocking but the Bengals D-Line is making running the ball very difficult. Trent Richardson looks good but he doesn't have much space to run. 55 yards through 3 quarters with a super star rb.

Weeden had forever to throw in the game. Call it good O-Line play by cleveland mixed with weak Bengals Pass rush.

Sheldon Brown with a Pick 6 to end the game. He just jumped the route. Great read.

AJ Green beats Joe Haydon deep but the game was already over.

Hardesty closing out the game for Cleveland. Even before they were rotating RB's due to Richardson's problems in pass protection on 3rd downs.

Andy Dalton didn't play as well as he usually does. Very good 1st half, turnovers in 2nd half (not all his fault).
Cleveland's O-Line played very well as far as pass protection.
    Weeden did ok.
Ugly weather condiditons, good special teams by cleveland.

The Bengals need a pass rush specialist very badly.
