Picked up football preview magazines today

Still been liking Marc Lawrence's the best lately. Phil Steele's always has tons of info, but I think Lawrence has always presented everything more concisely.

The football fever really starts for me every year with these magazines. Now if I can just get a Jim Feist rotation schedule in the mail soon, I'll be in high gear.

I think Phil Steele's mag is overrated. It's filled with useless crap from previous years fit each team. I read PREVIEW magazines for the upcoming season.

You mean Best's rotation schedules? Football 2012/2013 Schedule Book Subscription, Issue #1 - #2
How is that rotation schedule? Is it pretty go book for record keeping..
I have never used his rotation schedule and am needing a new service for this upcoming season, maybe going forward.. Just need a good one...
I like to be able to have plenty of room (To the right side of the listed game usually) to be able to hand write the opening lines, all changes,..until gametime.. Any recommendations? Thanks folks,...

Yeah - B&N is where I got these. They've always got them on the rack each year.

I have never read Lawrence's, but in general these magazines are completely worthless and often times factually incorrect. A complete waste of money.

They are useful for jotting down notes on the games and being ready for openers when they come out.

You can really just print the same pages out from a few places each week, but having the mailed schedule with all the tout and sports book ads in it gets me more rev'd up for the action!

Phil Steele & Mark Lawrence two of the best mags. Steele is a number cruncher, but Lawrence is by far the better handicapper!

I'd recommend Marc Lawrence's Playbook as a start since it condenses both NFL and NCAAF betting info on each team into one magazine. If you want more, then Phil Steele's magazines for NFL and NCAAF would be a good next step, and you can also check out Pro Football Weekly's preview for NFL.

Do you know if the 2012 version is available yet? Also, do any of these magazines have the schedule blocks/grids in them where you can pencil in your picks ( like thos free booklets you get in the mail)? Thanks for the answers!

2012 version is out - that's the one I picked up. It just hit the stands recently and is well worth $9.95.

It does have the schedule blocks/grids for each team, which helps a lot in looking at 'spots' the teams are in. Comes in especially handy on a big football afternoon with lots of games at once and you want to quickly confirm who a team is looking ahead to the next week before making that big second half bet.

Steele's is the single best source if you create your own sets of power numbers.

Steele's magazine includes information you can't find in any other magazine, things like returning OL starts, returning % of total yards, % of returning tackles, special team rankings....and comprehensive lists to give you a good idea about player position rankings.

Bought Phil Steele's 2012 preview and I'm done with it. In my opinion, a waste of almost $10. It will cost me $1 to ship it to another poster...will do it. PM me.

    There are quite a bit.

    Athlon has one.

    Lindy's has one.

    SportsWeekly has one.

    USAToday/Yahoo has one.

For college football, Phil Steele's preview magazine is by far the best. I get the spiral-bound workbook as it has a lot of great info on college totals.

Steele's pro football comes out too late. Athlon's is probably my favorite NFL mag.

Just picked up the Game of year lines @ the Golden Nugget.

Boise St getting 6.5 @ Mich St looks solid.

I'm surprised SBR hasn't made up their own Schedule Books and offer them in the SBRstore.

Hell yea!! I would buy one as well.. As long as their is enough room to the right side of each game listed to make plenty of notes and line adjustments... Used to get a couple of these free each year from bookmaker and/or BetUs..
