Inconsistent play on offense by the Patriots and a solid Broncos defense makes Denver the play tonight in New England.
The New England Patriots come into tonight's game looking to atone for a 27-13 loss in last years' playoffs, the first loss in QB Tom Brady's playoff career.
Denver has started the season 1-1 mainly behind the play of their defense. The Broncos' D has yet to allow a touchdown this season and has made up for the erratic play of QB Jake Plummer (0 TD, 4 INT). Plummer had a fantastic season last year and we think he gets back on track tonight, complementing the nice RB work so far by the two Bells, Tatum and Mike.
New England, meanwhile, sits at 2-0 but could just as easily be 0-2. The Pats were forced to overcome a 10-pt deficit in Week 1 to defeat Buffalo and nearly blew a 24-0 lead against the NY Jets last Sunday. While the running of Laurence Maroney and Corey Dillon has been formidable, New England's passing attack has been lacking.
Denver's defense should be able to keep the team in this game no matter what the offense looks like, especially given the fact that Brady and the New England passing attack have moved at an inconsistent pace this year. The seven points look generous so we will take the points in this one.
