Mike Rose: Texans vs. Colts u47.0

Did any of you notice how long Indy’s drives were last week? Their first drive seemingly took forever, and it looks like HC Dungy and his staff wants to have more of a ball-controlled offense this season.

Why they decided this after “The Edge” left is beyond me, but it does offer some value when backing the ‘Under’ in their games this season. Look for Indy to control the outcome of this game from the opening kick-off.

Houston just isn’t at the level of competing with these guys right now. Expect a couple of long time consuming drives, and for the Colts to sit on their lead once it gets out of hand. The Colts have to feel a bit fortunate after their win against the Giants in the Meadowlands. They allowed Eli and the G-Men a number of opportunities to knock them off, but they were able to escape their mistakes and win the first ever Manning Bowl.

Today’s match-up with the Texans is their first divisional game of the season, and they went a perfect 3-0 SU against the AFC South in the RCA Dome last season. Houston has a new look to it overall. They’re still a team learning on both sides of the ball and don’t have the weapons necessary to give the Colts a scare today. Indy’s defense looked awful last week. It didn’t get much pressure on Eli, and RB’s Barber and Jacobs carved up its run “D”. Don’t look for either of those to occur this afternoon. Indy’s “D” will be much faster on the carpet, and it will be able to get pressure on QB Carr with Houston still having a very weak O-Line.

In addition, the Texans don’t boast nearly the ground attack than that of the Giants, so expect the Colts to gain some confidence in stopping the Texans run.
