Mike Rose: Broncos vs. Rams

The Broncos invade the Edward Jones Dome to take on the new look Rams under the new tutelage of HC Scott Linehan who masterminded the offensive attacks of both the Vikings and Dolphins the last few years.

Both clubs will look to get its ground attacks going early to set up the big passing plays downfield. Denver is one of the favorites to be the AFC’s representative in the Super Bowl this year, and would love nothing more than to erase the memory of last season’s opening day road loss in Miami.

St. Louis is a great team to get the “W” against considering they’re learning new schemes on both sides of the ball, and don’t have much semblance of a defense. Look for the Broncos to batter the Rams with the tandem of RB’s Bell (squared), and then look for big scoring plays from off-season acquisition WR Walker and WR Smith. Former Saints HC Jim Haslett is also running the Rams defense. The man loves to blitz, and QB Plummer is excellent at avoiding pressure and rolling out of the pocket. This could spell trouble for the Rams deep if they’re not careful.

The Rams also play great on their turf offensively, and have a number of speedy targets for QB Bulger to get the ball to besides the great Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce. Expect STL to hang around in this one simply due to its offensive prowess, but fall in the end to the Broncos who are just that much better on both sides of the ball.

Attention trend bettors! The ‘Over’ is 7-0 ATS the L/7 times the Broncos have been installed as road chalks.
