Redskins get the number 2 pick in the draft.

In a pre-draft blockbuster trade, the St. Louis Rams have agreed in principle to send the second overall pick in this year's draft to the Washington Redskins for three first-round draft picks and a second-round pick, according to a source in Cleveland familiar with the terms of the deal.

    2012 NFL Draft

The trade, first reported by FoxSports.com, cannot be signed off on, turned in and processed until the new league year starts Tuesday at 4 p.m. EST, but it is expected to become official then.

In the deal, the Rams will receive the Redskins' No. 6 overall pick, as well as the Redskins' first-round picks in 2013 and 2014. The Rams will also receive Washington's second-round pick this year in return for the second overall pick that the Redskins now will use on whichever quarterback the Indianapolis Colts do not draft No. 1 overall.

There is a widespread expectation that Indianapolis will make Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck the No. 1 pick and then Washington would follow by selecting Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The Cleveland Browns had stepped up their efforts to try to acquire the No. 2 pick in recent days, going so far as to offer at least three No. 1 picks to the Rams and possibly even the second-round pick, according to one source familiar with the deal. Cleveland sensed it was going to get the deal done, only to be informed that St. Louis planned to deal the coveted No. 2 pick to the Redskins.

That's a gift. Way to be horrible in the right year, Rams.

good or bad deal for years is uncertain, but what is certain is no matter what; year after year the Rams will still suck!

As a redskin fan, this is one of the few front office moves I agree with...trade the house for RGIII! Whether it works out long term or not, this was a move they HAD to do, bringing in an either past their prime QB, overrated QB or worthless QB like grossman again and again is a horrible way to build a team at QB.

Changes the Rams franchise/destiny maybe forever. Just think if they won one more game this year, how that changes things.

When Redskins do one thing right, flood the Internet. Until then, laughter ensues.

Maybe they'll Ricky Williams this draft and be good in like 8 years.

This is a horrible trade. Why would you give up 1st round picks in 3 straight years just to move up a couple of spots to draft an unproven QB?

The odds of this trade actually working in the Skins favor is MINUTE. horrible trade. complete idiots running that organization.

Washington will hand over the #2 overall pick in April, the last leg in this trade.

    So far:

    Washington got: RGIII
STL got: Michael Brockers, Isiah Pead, Janoris Jenkins, Alec Ogletree, Stedman Bailey, Zac Stacy, #2 in 2014

Dan Snyder, this facepalm is for you.

Great bump here and amazing to look at.
2 teams that will never win again because of awful ownership: Jerry Jones and this Washington stain.
Remember when he gave that Titans Linebacker 120 mill? Hahahahahaha

AZ finished 10-6 and barely sniffed the doorstep. Put the Rams in the NFC North or East, they clinch it before week 17.
