I finished 14th in the Supercontest. Would have been 9th if they covered. Certainly not a game I intended to have fifty grand on lololol.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

First place was over 900k. I believe he finished with 60.5 points. I finished with 54, so not particularly close. But there was a big gap between first and second. I was only a few points out of second place. Really makes you think about some of the bad beats and games that could have gone the other way this year haha. That Steelers/Raiders game. That phantom holding call on fourth down in the Titans/Raiders game. The Chargers/Steelers last play. Denver falling apart against Pittsburgh. Chicago missing a game tying field goal against Washington. There's no way to win these things without a lot of luck, no matter how well you've handicapped the games.

Nah. 9th pays around 77k and 14th pays around 25k. Even though I won 25, I still feel like I lost 52 on that last game haha. Never enough.

Uh, go kill yourself whoever the fck you are? Or go to the Westgate Supercontest standings website and look for POOLSIDE. Who would lie about this here, to a bunch of people they don't even know..?
They haven't updated yesterday's results yet but I'm sure they will soon. Idiot.

The most important takeaway from LVH this year for me was the question; How many of the top players loses, came within .5 or 1 point.
Pool, you might be able to answer this for me. You went 54 and 31, how many of the 31 lost because of 1 point or less?
I don't even want to play this year, I may just tail the top. If someone tailed Roundy this year, making all bets with $2,500 units, they are up $84,250.
So it would be really interesting to backtest your results, as a 16th place finisher with more loses than Roundy.
If you had bought the hook on key numbers, how many push?

not bad
There were a handful, but I feel like there always are. For me, the worst beats that I can remember off the top of my head were the ones I listed above. The Broncos/Steelers game was a tough pill to swallow. Getting 6.5 points, up twenty points at half, and they lose by a touchdown. That was rough.
The Titans/Raiders game was also brutal. Fourth down and the Raiders turn it over on downs. Game over. Then a phantom holding call comes in on a late flag and the Raiders are gift wrapped the win. The league apologized the next day and fined the official. There was nothing even close to holding on the play.
But these things happen when you bet sports. When it's an isolated game, I never really think much about it except oh damn I lost that bet on some bad luck.
The part that's killing me now is that, and I obviously didn't realize this at the time, but these games cost me a lot of money. Like, a potentially over a hundred thousand dollars lot of money.
The other thing is wonder how many of these guys ahead of me were on the other side of those games. Or which ones had the Packers in the Hail Mary game. Things like that.
Moral of the story is, you need to get very lucky to win this thing.

Ch ballers 2014 champ, 2015 vegas insiders record is crap

My first time. Definitely plan on entering again next year. Like I said earlier, it's a lot of fun wherever you win or lose. Especially when you consider that it costs less than $90 a week.
I'll continue posting my record here as well. Hopefully the winners doing poorly the next season doesn't extend down to 14th place haha.

I was wondering the same thing. Figured it was an inside joke or something.
I was hoping to see some of the 2014 winners among the 2015 winners.
To see if sports betting is a game of skill or luck.
Thanks. For what it's worth, I did not have a great 2014. Didn't enter the Supercontest that year, but definitely lost money last season after a really good 2013. Although, part of that has to do with the fact that I made a major change to my betting strategy this season. I used to assign different units in relation to how confident I felt about a play. You know, Dallas -3 for three units, Oakland +7 for one unit etc. I realized that even though I was hitting above a 55% clip, I was losing money. Now I just bet one unit per game. If I really love a dog, I'll bet one unit on the spread and one unit on the moneyline. No more of this four units on this game crap. Made a big difference.
One thing to consider with past winners is that they may enter under a different name. The guys that won last year used a different name. Either that or they didn't enter, but that seems unlikely. However, they have by all accounts been abysmal ats this season as touts. With them, it was probably lightning in a bottle.
I'll be entering next season under the same name. While it's obviously far more likely that I'll regress rather than improve, we'll have to wait until then to find out.
Thanks. Just read that the guy who finished in third place would have finished second if Green Bay had covered. Cost him almost 200k. Guess I shouldn't be complaining.
