Wtf was with the officiating in the giants-packers game?

I'm sure there were plenty of threads made about it, but here's another one for emphasis. I mean the officiating was borderline criminal. It began with the fumble call that was REVIEWED and was pretty clear it was a fumble. I can understand getting the call wrong live on the field, but to review it in the booth and still get it wrong is just unreal. The Ware run where he got the first down and they spot the ball 4 yards back was just ridiculous. Then the multiple roughing the passer non-calls on Eli Manning. Those packer defenders were getting away murder. And right on cue, Umenyiora gets called for roughing the passer on Rodgers on a clean hit. Somehow, the Giants still win by 17, but that was as blatant one sided officiating I've seen since Kings-Lakers a while back. I mean bad call/non-calls happen a few times a game for both teams, it happens, refs aren't perfect, but yesterday was just ridiculous.

did not see the game so I dont know if you are being objective or if you have an agenda, I saw other people on this forum say the officiating was fair

packers are the leagues love child and playing at home, even if there are no bad intentions, the referees in any sport are always subconsciously influenced by the atmosphere in the arena and by the magnitude of a team like the packers

why do you think playing at home is considered an advantage?

I still am wondering how that ball wasn't a fumble... I mean it was clear as day. What's the point in replay if that call wasn't fixed?

Its very clear the refs were on the Packers...its just the Packers played so badly not even refs could save them...everybody knows the NFL is rigged! C'mon guys, we KNOW this to be true!

The game is over, but the refs obviously tried to help packers to win game, or they might have put $ on packers. The fumble call was really very bad for the refs. As experts talking about it, it was fumble, but that ref guy said it was not fumble. Everybody knows it was fumble.
    This is NFL.

My favorite play of the weekend was when the clock was winding down in the NO/SF game, Brees tried to call a timeout but didn't get it off in time. The ball was snapped and the refs then let the play unfold and Brees sailed the ball 20 yards out of bounds. They then honored his time out call. I wonder what would have happened if it was a touchdown?

The Ware run was comedy. Was telling my aunt who's a big football fan, watch as they spot this WAY short.

I've never seen someone so close to a 1st down and be spotted so far from it.

Fumble was obvious. The commentators were almost speechless.

Then that roughing the passer call on Rodgers. Meanwhile Eli gets slapped in the helmet and no call.

Great stuff NFL, right on cue.

there is no way justify the calls.

the roughing the passer was the worst, because it was one where it got called one way but not the other.

and the lack of holding calls on the packers O line was insane.

Terrible game for the NFL , no way around. I agree with all of the points made above. As a gambler / sports investor it makes you sick. Not only was this game tainted , but I still believe they got screwed last game as well. That Jennings catch or non-catch I should say. Was BS. Calvin Johnson's was no catch , but Jennings' was? The NFL has a serious problem imho. Not NBA big , but this year was just terrible.

The funniest thing was how Eli was smashed to the ground after every play, hit from all angles, not a single penalty.
The Rodgers gets hit while throwing and they called helmet contact ... replay showed the defender didnt even come close ...

Gave em a first down and then they finally scored lol. saved the pack from an even more embarrassing score.

Most of the forums and ALL of the NFL.COM crew is in agreement with the OP. I have only seen parts of the game so far, but what I've seen has all been favoring the Packers. The fumble was 100%, not even close.

The league should be embarrassed. They should issue a statement and apologize for this atrocity, especially the fumble. There's just no excuse for it.

The roughing the passer call was REALLY bad as well, so was the spotting of the ball when Ware picked up a 1st down, about 2 yards off the spot, he was roughly 1 yard across first down.

3 really bad calls and then I don't think you could complain too much. There were some roughing the passer on Eli, but those non calls are not as bad as the actual horrific calls.

When the officials go under the booth to review a play that goes against the Saints or Packers, a video of Roger Goodell and FOX execs wagging their fingers at him is shown instead of the actual play.

So what do you make of it? The refs afraid of going against the Packers on home turf and accidentally overdoing it? I mean the fumble call actually got reviewed and is inexcusable, the other 2 calls COULD have been honest mistakes even if horrible ones?

Bill Leavy is one of the most corrupt refs in the NFL. He rigged the Superbowl for the Steelers against the Seahawks and tried to help the Packers win yesterday too, but couldn't get it done.

Wow..there were so many horrible calls, but the DJ Ware run I swear half his body crossed the yellow line on the screen, and Tom Coughlin is so clueless he didn't even bother to challenge it.

Smart not to, they were obviously trying to bait out that last challenge so they could DESTROY the Giants on later calls with no challenges. Smart move to keep that challenge

I didn't bet on the game and hate both teams so my opinion about the officiating isn't biased whatsoever. The giants got bad call after bad call after bad call against them. Missed holding calls, late qb hits, phantom roughing rodgers (hit to head), an obvious fumble that wasn't called a fumble, first downs not called first downs, and the list goes on...again I didn't have a bet and hate both teams equally but I love the game and for the most part the NFL as a whole. I would like to hear an explanation from the ref or the NFL about how the fukk that wasn't a
    fumble.
Was he reviewing the play or watching porn under
the hood when reviewing the fumble??? I think it was porn because he came back on the field looking to screw somebody...that somebody was the giants. All is good for giants fans, backers, and team as they dominated want was a horrible attempt by the refs and the NFL to help the packers out.

I have seen several games that officiating sucked but this ranks right up there in the top 5...

If you watched a lot Packers home games, this is rather standard. Same with Saints.

Anytime there's an incomplete pass, ref is ready to throw a flag for PI.

Most of these games were against Tampa Bay and the likes so no one gave a shit.

Penalties against Opp at home 60
Penalties against Packers at home 30

The story on the road is not much different, huge advantage in penalties.

Did you know GB had the fewest penalties called against them all year?

I disagree with this. I have watched all of the packers games this year, and despite being a huge GB fan I am a pretty objective viewer. There have been a couple questionable calls, but nothing even close to this game, and they generally go both ways as in any other game.

The officiating in this game was beyond blatant favoritism, and I wouldn't have a problem with it being investigated. The non-overturned fumble review disgusted me. I'd prefer a fair game over my team (any team) being favored every time.

you are 100 percent right the zebra's really wanted green bay to win the game i'm sure of that because everybody wanted to see green bay vs n.e. in the super bowl, that super bowl would have made so much money that like you said the zebra's where very bad and N.Y.G still killed green bay there was nothing more that the zebra's could do to help green bay win the game N.Y.G was just to good because the whole wide world is watching but yes the N.F.L. really wanted GREEN BAY VS N.E, in the super bowl that's all they care about money and more money
