New Orleans Wants Quick Start In '06

Vince Young and Reggie Bush make their professional debuts tonight in a Rose Bowl Rematch between the Saints and Titans.

This is a Rose Bowl rematch of sorts as Reggie Bush from USC is again squaring off with Vince Young of Texas, this time with both players making their professional debut for New Orleans and Tennessee respectively.

The key to this contest however, just as in any other preseason contest, is that the Saints are probably more concerned about winning the game while the Titans are concerned with seeing what they have. New Orleans would like nothing better than to bounce back from its terrible season tarnished by Hurricane Katrina last year, and the Saints would like to create a positive vibe with a successful preseason.

Bush may actually get some extended playing time here with Deuce McAllister still out with a bad knee. This means that Bush will be running against the Tennessee reserves in the second quarter, which should result in some points. From a technical standpoint, New Orleans is 13-3 ATS in the first two weeks of preseason over the last eight years, and the Saints are also looking to impress a new coaching staff here.

We feel that the Titans will be one of the worst teams in the AFC this season, which is sad considering how good they were just a few years ago. We think they will regret drafting Young over Matt Leinart, as we simply do not feel that Young is an NFL-caliber quarterback at this point. He is a better runner than passer, and his throwing mechanics are not what they should be. We look for him to get exposed with extended playing time tonight.

    Play: New Orleans +3 (-110)
