Is Andrew Luck the best quarterback since Peyton Manning?

I think so. The guy is sure to go No.1 in next years draft.

And please dont say tom brady. He was nobody in michigan. Patriots won those superbowls because of great defence, leadership and adam vinatieri's leg.

Which ever team picks up luck will be a contender for the next 10 years.

He's the best COLLEGE QB since Manning, sure. For NFL, I guess he could be the next Tom Brady. Probably not as good though

Yes he is! The dude is an electrical engineer from Stanford or some type of engineer. He has the smarts coming out his ass. Andrew is a great role model for student/players. I wish him complete success. Stanford -10 is a winner on Saturday, just like last week and the week before. Go Stanford and Beat cal!

14 years of picks between them. I mean there are lots of great college guys there who didn't pan out. Luck is great and may have a tremendous future, but I wouldn't put him in that territory. I mean, guys like Ken Dorsey (although he was a stick figure), Carson Palmer, Matt Leinhart, Rex Grossman etc... have all come out since Manning. Is Luck better than those guys? That's debatable. Does he belong in the conversation? Absolutely. Only time will tell.

Most likely a bust or an average QB. That's just the odds. #1 means nothing. He won't even be close to Manning.

Playing in a loser conference with teams that can't play any D.

Not sure why everyone thinks he'll be some kind of savior .

I am not going to be a scout.
I watch Luck his junior and senior year in high school - same high school as Craig James of ESPN - and although I thought we was decent I am shocked that he would be this good.
I watched Andre Ware in high school and thought he was a beast - I wasn't surprised that he won the Heisman - but disappointed that he was a bust in the NFL.

Its gonna be sick when Manning ends up sitting out this entire season causing the Colts to go 3-13 who then draft Luck #1. Luck then will get to sit for 2 or 3 years and learn everything from Manning....

peyton manning 1 ring - tom brady 3 rings

    end of discussion

remember when the patriots went undefeated, tom brady got hurt and the same team won 5 less games without him you twinks, he makes a team as good as the patriots 5 games better

People forget that leinart would have been number one if he came out as a JR too but he went back for his second heisman and blew it. Before teebo came along he could have had a case for most accomplished college qb ever.

    How's he doing now?

if you play a GREAT college defense there might be 2 nfl ers playing. In the nfl, there's 11.
college ball is nothing like the nfl...
Leinart, Leaf, Russell, the list goes on.
    Brees went to Purdue
    Brady to Michigan
    Rothlisberger to Ohio?
    Rivers to NC State
    none contended for a championship

The QB spot will always be vulnerable to busts because of the value that a top qb brings to a franchise. Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Brady, and maybe Rivers/Raplesberger/Romo all drive hundreds of millions of dollars worth of incremental revenue. So for every one of those, you see 10 picks in the ilk of Alex Smith, Vince Young, Carr, George, Couch, Jamarcus, and on and on. Still massively +EV to take a shot on qb.

That said, I can't remember scouts being this excited about a QB since... Peyton Manning. No one else thinks they've learned from past overvaluation mistakes with system qb's, projects, and headcases? The NFL invests millions of dollars and thousands of man hours into their primary form of gambling - the NFL draft. To me, anyone who claims they know better than all the scouts is in the same bucket as those who claim Vegas has no idea how to set lines.

Luck has looked good throughout his career, however, if Duke, that's D-U-K-E, even had a half-way decent kicker, they would have been WINNING @ half-time against Stanford, and possibly late into the third quarter. If Luck is that effing good, then he doesn't let his team get into a dog fight with one of the worst programs in college football the last 30 years.

Stanford only pulled away because Duke's ineptitude on offense resulted in their defense getting watered down later in the game.

And yes, hard for me to see how anybody can put him ahead of Brady or Rivers or Brees or Rodgers or even Matt Ryan at this point.

It's true Luck might be the best "prospect" since Manning, in the sense that he has the prototypical size (unlike Brees), mobility (unlike Rivers), mechanics (unlike Rivers/Brees) and no arm strength issues (unlike Rodgers/Ryan/Brady). In demonstrating the ability to consistently run an offense for multiple seasons and be a leader, Luck has shown to "have it all" so to speak. But then, didn't Ryan Leaf? He was big, tall, strong, mobile, and had a cannon, and we all know how that worked out.

NFL is different. faster. more violent. I wish him the best, but who knows. biggest challenge to be great like brady or manning is to not get hurt all these years.
