Welcome back, boys!

I cannot tell you guys how long I've been waiting for the football season. I've been so anxious sitting through the lockout until it was lifted, just waiting to start up a thread, now at the start of preseason, and still waiting just a few more weeks until the regular season kicks off!

I had a great year last year, and that has only made this off-season even harder to sit through. Football is my savior when it comes to sports investing, and I'm so pumped to get going this year.

Before we get going, let's take a look back at last year and note a few changes in how I will conduct things this year.

(45-24-4 +$7,587.50 on plays of 3* or larger)
(8-1-2 +$3,750 on only Top Plays of 5* or higher)
(1-0 +$1,000 on only 10* play of the year)


As my old friends and followers know, labeling a play as a "DONK" play is just my way of saying I really like it, got a good feeling, kinda like a TOP play. The idea was to make these plays more rare and elite, but as you can see, "DONK" plays made up a large chunk of my overall play tally.

Last year, I began with plays as small as 0.5*, but with my success and larger wagers as the year progressed, by the end of the year it was rare to see me play anything for less than 2*. To make "DONK" plays more rare, and give them that elite status, I will only count plays of 3* or higher as DONK plays. Anything lower will not even be eligible. I kept a side record of my 3* or higher plays and they performed very well. They were also less frequent (naturally) and it was obvious that those should have been the "DONK" plays all along. Since I will be keeping a running record of all my plays for as long as I post on forums, I will adjust that record to fit last year's results with the qualifying plays. So, the running record looks like:

Hope that makes sense. I know I'll be able to track it all accurately, so that's the only issue. And all that matters is what we do from here on out! Time to get going in 2011 and make some MONEY!!!

Going along with Roch on the Vikings TT- seems to be a play of merit. Also, some leans could still turn into plays.

I will be at the Bears game, so I am playing them for action, although I looked at both sides of the spread and total, and halfs, quarters, etc.. I think the Bears ML is the best bet (I like 1st half better as I expect Caleb Hanie to get the majority of the 1st half playing time.)

I like it. I'm on the Bears Money Line for the 1st half and game. I'm on the 1st half a little larger because I really like Caleb Hanie (Bears QB) who will get the majority of the time against the Bills 2nd stringers in the 1st half. I think the Bears can put some points up (especially with their strong depth at RB) on a weak Bills D, and if they get out to a nice lead at half, they should be able to hold it for the game. Nathan Enderle will be at QB for the Bears in the 2nd half, though, so while I like the Bears in tonight's game, from an investment standpoint, I think there is more value when you deviate from the standard game point spread and attack the 1st half. Maybe you could split it up between 1st half and full game like I did, or just ride out your game bet. Either way, BOL. Go Bears!

3-0 SWEEP!

Caleb Hanie scores the only TD of the game and the Bears get it done. Minnesota barely scratches the scoreboard and the TT was never in doubt. Would have been a 3* and even a DONK play, but I decided I'm gonna keep it small in the preseason, and I don't plan on having any DONK plays in the preseason.

Leans go 3-1.. Was VERY close to making Rams a 1* play. Wish I did. Oh well. Still off to a great start!

Honestly- It really varies, man. As you can see, I'm capable of posting multiple days in advance (like I did tonight) and there were times last year where I posted a play 5 minutes before kickoff. I would say I post most plays about an hour or two before kickoff, but it really does vary..
