True. But sometimes, after a good streak you can make a nice gift to yourself....

I think it's possible to make a modest income from this if you have low overheads / no commitments, but do you really want to do just this for years on end?

Better bet get a decent job and take whatever you can make as a bonus.

Yes, I am a Professional Sports Bettor, although I used to just say I was a portfolio manager of a hedge fund. I always got more respect

I usually just get blank stares and isn't that illegal, now. I am not rich or drive a sport car, but I do pay my bill and have a little left over to grow my bank roll. Maybe one day, I will be in the Billy Walters league, but for now, I will slowly continue to build my bankroll.

    Best of luck,

If you are referring to the OP question then your statement may be true for most but there are many people like myself that are Professional Sports Bettors.

Money Management is the key; without it, your will definitely fail, with it, you will probably fail. I am speaking long term of course. Your bank roll is like your blood, if you lose too much you will die. That is the first step. Learn all you can about money management and remember to treat sports betting like an investment tool. If you earn 15% - 30% for the year, then you did great. Granted, that is not very much if your bank roll is only a $1000, but success in this industry is measured in years not days.

I would also hunt down G's MLB picks this season. He did well last season and uses money management to stay in the game. You could also visit my site which has some great articles on Sports Betting and stuff. It is a free information site, but still, I do not want to anger SBR in anyway so you will have to search SBR for a link to it. However, there is nothing on the site that hasn't already been said at SBR, so...

Anyway, I wish you best of luck and remember only about 2% of Sports Bettors actually make money in this industry.

That never works very often! Had the knicks tonite vs Cleveland as 50 dollar prayer!
Tonite I have a 4 teamer going: Warriors, Bulls, Thunder, and waiting on Charolette vs Lakers.
Trust me, you'll hit a favorite parlay rarely. Look at the Heat vs Magic!

Liked your post. Do you feel it sometimes that there comes a time when u know to jump on it; i.e Knicks vs Heat in Miami, and Cleveland tonite +875. I remember a fellow sports enthusiast who gave me the best advice "Don't bet on a game just because its on TV." I saved alot by not going every thursday on NBA on TNT. Everytime you "force" a wager it's always a loser.
