    Any recommended literature for newbie?

Could someone recommend any good literature about sports betting?
I already read The Betting Industry to get overview and base for understanding the betting psychology, odds, and probabilities to win, and some strategies.
Now I am looking for some deep insight into the psychology of trader, and also would like to read at least one real story about some sports pundit.

Here's the best tip I can give you: If the author of a book on the "psychology of a trader" had any real success with their own methodology, they would not be writing books.

You have to figure it out on your own, game by game. It sucks, but that's the only way. There is no system, psychological principle, or otherwise that can help you win long-term.

Whenever this topic comes up, Stanford Wong's Sharp Sports Betting is recommended. I have never read it but I think it is the kind of book you want.

Sharper: A Guide To Modern Sports Betting is supposed to be solid and free on Kindle at Amazon.

Anyone who deals with anything involving odds, gambling, trading, should read Taleb's book "Fooled by Randomness".

Downloaded this book the other day. It's a pretty good read so far.

One thing I think that can help, or at least not hurt, is reading a book. Your able to make your own decision to its value.

I don't trust programs and handicapping services that spit out projected winners.

They usually don't fare much better than the public and you don't learn from the process.

    Regardless, thanks for the suggestion.

Once I finish, I will take a look at Waterspub's suggestion.

Another vote for Sharper: A Guide To Modern Sports Betting - was very useful to me when I was starting out.

    Some other good ones:

    Wayne Winston: Mathletics
    Elihu Feustel: Conquering Risk
    Chad Millman: The Odds

Are the above recommendations listed in order of your preference?

I want to get a jump on a new and improved spreadsheet for the upcoming football season.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

Hands down the best, you will need to read it 2-3x before you can get it. It's not heavy reading.....but many say " it the best to learn about speculation of markets".....It a good story also!!...REMINISCENCES OF A STOCK OPERATOR....I Traded Bonds in NYC (institutional,$100 million a pop) we were the secondary market to distribute the Gov. debt...............Anyway I read this book once a year!! JUST READ IT!!.................................... ..................................GL
