    Steam Bets

Can someone please explain to me what a steam bet is? I've read that the sportsbooks don't like it.

In short, a steam bet is when a lot of money (usually smart money from professional bettors) comes in all at once on one particular side. The books don't like it because when it happens real fast they don't have time to move the line to a more favorable (for them) number.

    Not really.

it's bettors who monitor sharp books like Pinny looking for significant moves, then scan soft books looking to bet at those that have not yet made that move.

Books consider it trying to exploit the betting system instead of gambling on sports.

Whether you think it should be allowed or not, bettors need to know it will get them limited or booted at most soft books.
