I'm new too, but money line is for the team to win straight up, if you bet point spread, the team has to cover the points to win, example if the Saints are favored by -10, and you pick them they have to win by 11 or more for you to win. Hope this helps
Am also new and this way of betting is new for me as an Aussie. With spread its as sydermonkey says. Money line is straight up and the odds reflect $100. So if odds are -165 you need 165 to win 100. And if +110 then you get 110 for a 100 bet.
