The Spiders, who have four senior starters who will be among those feted prior to today's home finale, have locked up a first-round bye in the upcoming A-10 Tournament. However, despite a 23-7 record they are anything but certain for an at-large bid at this point to the Big Dance. They can ill-afford a loss today and most likely need to notch a couple of wins in the conference tournament.
While Richmond has won three in a row and seven of eight, Duquesne has followed an 11-game winning streak by losing five of seven most recently. The Dukes are just 1-3 SU in their last four road games, too.
This will be a contrast of styles; Richmond likes to take it slow using is superior outside shooting and stingy match-up zone defenses to stymie opponents. Duquesne, on the other hand, likes to put it foot on the accelerator and play up-tempo from start to finish.
Home court advantage and the defensive end results in Richmond's covers the number (-3.5 or -4) at home!
i like UR, but i think that i like the over 138' more. think it's Spiders, 78-70. you are correct about the contrast in styles, but in their last meeting in Pittsburgh, UR was happy to get involved in an up tempo game and it went over the total easily. now, at the Robins Center, where you would think that UR might be more likely to slow tempo than on the road, the total's 11 points higher. on Senior Day with a first-round bye secured, i think that UR will play at Duquesne's tempo.
for what it's worth, i'm on 3* UR -3'. figure that an over of 138' requires two teams, and Duquesne has been a little shaky of late (and have scored 63 or less 3 of last 4 road games). BOL today.
