    Air Force a 3pt dog

GAME NOTES: The TCU Horned Frogs try to snap a four-game slide today as they host the Air Force Falcons in a Mountain West Conference showdown at Daniel- Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth.
TCU, which has dropped eight of the last nine games overall, was in action on Wednesday night and was blitzed by the New Mexico Lobos in The Pit, 71-46. The 46 points were the fewest scored by the Horned Frogs this season and marked the third time the squad has failed to reach the 50-point plateau. With the defeat TCU fell to 1-6 in conference, which means the team is now all alone at the bottom of the MWC standings.
As for the Falcons, now tied with New Mexico for sixth place in the MWC with a 2-4 record, they were defeated by Colorado State at Moby Arena on Wednesday night by a final of 69-66. The setback was the fourth in five tries for the academy and means the group is just 1-6 on the road in 2010-11.
With respect to the all-time series between these two schools on the hardwood, the teams have split a total of 12 meetings. TCU, which will host the Falcons in early March, won the most recent meeting by a count of 65-51 last season.
Air Force shot both 50 percent from the field and 11-of-21 behind the three- point line on the night against Colorado State, but it was the team's 17 turnovers that proved to be their undoing in the three-point setback. Michael Lyons played just 18 minutes but still came up with 14 points, followed by Tom Fow with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting behind the three-point line. Taylor Stewart and Derek Brooks stepped up with 11 and 10 points, respectively, the former clearing six rebounds and handing out five assists. Lyons, a 51.3 percent shooter from the field these days, leads the program in scoring with 13.3 ppg, followed by Fow who is responsible for 12.9 ppg as the only other double-digit scorer for the squad. Yet again the Falcons rely more on their defenses than anything else, holding foes to just 39.7 percent shooting from the field and 63.6 ppg.
The Frogs went from converting just 10 field goals in the first half against New Mexico to only nine after the break, making it that much easier for the Lobos to run away with the 25-point win in The Pit. Hank Thorns had a decent game with 11 points and a game-high nine assists, but he shot just 5-of-17 from the field and 1-of-6 beyond the arc on the night. Garlon Green accounted for 10 points and five boards while Greg Hill, who started in place of Ronnie Moss, converted just 2-of-9 shots from the floor for his six points. Moss, who missed the meeting with UNM due to personal reasons, is the top scorer for the Frogs with his 15.7 ppg and is also a critical part of the passing portion on offense with 72 assists, so it is important that he make it back for the weekend. Green checks in with 11.6 ppg as he gives the group a true threat on the perimeter with his 50 percent shooting.
The outcome of this meeting could hinge on the availability of Moss to a certain degree. More precisely, his presence or lack thereof, will dictate just how badly the Horned Frogs will lose.
Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Air Force 67, TCU 58 01/29 10:34:09 ET
