Kentucky might be bounced earlier than last year

Just too young. But man are they talented. But youngness will always be a problem.

I had u of i first half, u of i, lucky georgetown cover, and then Kentucky ruins my sweep. BUTTHEADS

Brandon Knight is going to be a star. He should stay in school though for sure.

Says the fan of the team that just lost at home to South Carolina. The SEC is just plain down, just like last year, just like the Pac10. It shouldn't shock people that Kentucky isn't that great. No standout big man, and a roster severely depleted by early entry to the draft. If either Lamb or Knight stays to team up with Teague and Davis they could be good next year though.

Jones, Lamb and Knight are very good players but there isnt much depth to this years team. Kanter being ineligible really hurt the Cats for the simple fact that John Harrellson has to see the court in result. Liggins and Miller are decent role players. Wall, Bledsoe and Cousins to go along with Patterson last year was definitely a better squad. This years team will improve but I am not sure if they are a top 15 team. If a few of these freshman stick around next year they will definitely be a force with their incoming class.

kanter and terrence jones should have stayed with their original decision to go to washington. they would have easily been a top 5 team.

Bama played way over their heads for 30 minutes,

Bama came into the game having made only 3 out of 21 threes on the year. Nevertheless they made 7 tonight.

Kentucky's problem is depth, and the Center position. Whoever the white guy is that plays is terrible. Kentucky made its run late, after benching the center and playing small.

We lost 5 guys to the first round last year. We were counting on Orton returning and when that didn't happen we signed Kanter and now with him ruled ineligible we are stuck having to play JH way more minutes than expected. This team is extremely young but very talented. We have struggled the last 2 road games but I fully expect come march to be experienced enough to make some noise. Right now it looks like Jones might be the only one to go pro and that's still a question mark. If we return Lamb, Knight, Liggins, Miller, Poole to go along with Teague, Gilchrist, Wiltjer, Davis and hopefully Lacey I like our odds next year

Having said that all that, I believe the best we could do this season will be elite 8 and a lot of luck will have to be on our side for that to happen

Another year like this and the UK fans will wish they had a different coach. All Cal can do is recruit and rotate one and dones with now jr/sr leadership

Sharp! Their youth really shows on the road. They just don't have the poise or experience to go on the road and win in a hostile environment.

Couple of excellent points in this thread...

    1. The big kid being declared inelgible really hurt them.

    2. Like most teams, especially one with as much youth as Kentucky has, they are much better at Rupp Arena with 24,000 Wildcat fans cheering for them than they are on the road.

The program deserves better than to hire a coach like this. Yes, Kentucky will wish the day had never come that they hired this sleaze bag

Calipari's whole recruiting speech is that he brought us Derrek Rose and Tyreke Evans and John Wall. He says I can get you to the NBA. He will never get those tim duncan standup 4 year players. Hes trying to catch lightning in a bottle with a hot recruiting class and if Wall, Cousins, and Bledsoe couldnt get to the final 4, Lamb, Jones, and Knight wont sniff the sweet 16 depending on bracket.

    Very true Ralphie. Great post.

All though I think its still to early to judge how far they'll go in the tourny this year. Still a lot of ball to be played but February will be the month we can truly start judging them.

agreed, they WILL ONLY get better. Every single game they will improve. But to run into a team like Duke or Ohio St. would just get ugly. They cant handle the defense those teams play. I sure do love Brandon Knight though.

John Calipari can't coach unless he has nba talent on his team that he cheated to get. ncaab is watching him closely now and he is having trouble beating the system

All the John Wall and Brandon Knight wins will be vacated just like all of his wins. And then he will be promoted to some even better job while the school suffers.

Calipari is not a bad coach.

Look at Memphis now, who is fresh off a top 5 recruiting class. Then look at the Calipari years, even B4 he got Derrick Rose and Evans.

I actually agree that Calipari is a good basketball coach. Hes good but they are still one and dones. Yesterday clear as DAY he called Jones a Selfish mothherfuckker on national tv 2 times. Awesome.

Hes coached Derrek Rose, Tyreke Evans, John Wall. Because of that he will get the hot shot point guard almost EVERY year but they will never stay more than one year because they have seen the success of the past Calipari players in the NBA. I think hes a good coach. Hes just a pompous arrogant guido, but thats fine.

Anyone who keeps up with Kentucky knew this would be a fun team to watch at times, but would struggle with depth, size, and experience... Cal a terrible coach? Please.... The Cats will mature as the season goes on, and the missing piece of this pie will be added next season... Cats #1
    * South Carolina is playing great right now, but this Saturday Kentucky will cover the line!
