Where's my good buddy, Biblical Dave? Surely he wouldn't go into hiding just based on being atrociously wrong on one occasion! Come on Dave, don't take it all so personally... -

Originally posted by dave11486I just want to take a second to understand how you take a shot at my opinion when you obviously do not know what your talking about. First off, there are "6" teams from what you call a overrated conference. And, they are not overrated. They are one of the two best conferences and again that is the truth. We'll just have to see how the SEC does, again I think you know how its gonna turn out because I already told you.
From now on I'll just call you Biblical Dave.
As I stated before the evidence presented itself. The Big 10 is in fact the Overrated 11 this year, and the SEC was in fact a better basketball conference this year.Leave a comment:

Until they stop giving the conference tournament winners a automatic bid, we will see these type teams from time to time.Leave a comment:

Dave, for what it's worth, I've already bet against two SEC teams in the second round. I think Tennessee will almost definitely lose, and think there is a really good chance Florida will as well.Leave a comment:

Originally posted by dave11486Oh yea that's great, but I'm talking about them making it to a round that matters. I just don't think they have what it takes as a conference.
LSU will be a tough team to beat in the later rounds, so the SEC has a good shot at getting a team to the final four.Leave a comment:

Originally posted by isetcapIt's certainly not the "truth" unless you have somehow managed to apply quantum physics' much discussed, yet-to-be proven string theory which would allow you to move yourself out of a time sequential existence. What is true is that the Big 10 actually has 11 teams and 6 of them did not receive bids. I think it's a shame that 5 teams got in from the Overrated 10 but does that mean they shouldn't have gotten bids? I won't be surprised if they have equivalent difficulty putting anyone into the Elite 8 but limitations on my understanding of physics does not allow me to declare that the "truth".
A valid complaint about the SEC is not how many bids they received, but how they were seeded. I can't see how they justify Tennessee at 2.Leave a comment:

50/50 is pretty strong for a team you're going to get serious value on. I'm thinking I can get +110 or better on this game and you know 50/50 normally costs you -110.
Think about it this way...you have TAILS in the coin flip and the coin has a normal HEAD on it but has a Jessica Alba TAIL!Last edited by isetcap; 03-14-06, 12:49 AM.Leave a comment:

The fact that it's a 5 vs 12 made me think the spread would be a little
higher. But I think the line movement is looking like A&M are going to win
my brother.Leave a comment:

I just think the donkeys that have Syracuse might actually get this one right. Texas A&M is a good, but not great team, but they are bad away from home, and that is one of the key factors in neutral court games. The main reason I am staying away is that Syracuse has all the experience (19 years since A&M was in the tournament), and they are playing very well.
A&M is playing well also, but Syracuse is a difficult team to prepare for, and I don't see either team winning this game more than 55 times out of 100. With that said, either team could win by 10.
To be honest, I thought this line would be around 3.5, and I would have taken A&M at that price, but getting 1 point just doesn't do it for me.Leave a comment:

Razz I am shocked that your not in love with Texas A&M! I can't get over
that. I mean you say its 50/50. Give me a 50.1/49.9 for me ?Leave a comment:

I had both the Aggies and Falcons on my bubble list, and even though I am an Aggie and have always rooted for the service academies, it wouldn't have bothered me a bit if neither A&M nor AF made it.

Michigan and Cincinatti and Maryland were essentially identical in both their record and the fact that they were terrible down the stretch. Teams that are on the bubble and have a bad record in their last 10 games rarely make the tournament. Florida State beat nobody other than Duke twice (only one counted but the other was at Cameron so it was necessary for the officials to help out) and everybody knows that Duke contests are only important when Duke wins. Hofstra and Missouri State should be in over Air Force and Utah State respectively. The Committee did manage to open their eyes for a bit and recognize that the SEC was at least as good as the overblown Big 10 which is another reason why Michigan got snubbed and Alabama got in.Leave a comment:

Andy Katz was told the reason Air Force got in because they were the 2nd Best team in the 8th best RPI conference. The reason Utah State is in is because they watched the Nevada game and dubbed Utah State a "tournament team".Leave a comment:

there is no way, you could compare cincinnatti and air force, side by side, and say air force takes it. none.Leave a comment:

umm, airforce has 0, as in ZERO wins vs RPI top 50. biggest non conference win is Miami and we already know our weak their conference was. (2 losses to 7th place wyoming as well.
My personal theory is that Air Force is in the tournament because its a branch of this country's military. really.Leave a comment:

Missouri State is the one that really suprised me. there RPI raking, along with that tough conference schedual, and they get snubbed. i don't usualy really question tourney selcections that much, but this snubbing was a true travisty.Leave a comment:

Cincinnati and Missouri State should be in. Missouri State had a 21 rpi, it makes no sense.Leave a comment:

How did George Mason make it and not Hofstra? Hofstra beat George Mason
twice in a row? That is sick! Disgusting!! Thanks for that list onlooker.
Hofstra stands out to me. How did Air Force make it?Leave a comment:

Here is a list:
TEAM ........... RECORD . RPI
Michigan ....... 18-10 .. 47
Florida State .. 19-9 ... 63
Cincinnati ..... 19-12 .. 40
Maryland ....... 19-12 .. 49
Hofstra ........ 24-6 ... 30
Missouri State . 20-8 ... 21
Creighton ...... 19-9 ... 39
I cant believe that Air Force got in, because I felt that the MWC should only get one team in. If they did get a second, the team I thought would make it in was BYU, not Air Force.Leave a comment:
