WTF Fresno State and San Francisco?

Is it a Northern California thing to act like pussies?

Fresno and San Fran were snubbed by NIT, so both said they would refuse invites to CIT or CBI. I could understand if some blueblood school did that, but you would think ANY post-season experience would be nice for these two schools.

Not the point though, don't act like bitches when you are a school that could use some extra exposure, not to mention getting players some post-season experience heading into next season.

Believe Fresno was in the CBI or CIT 4 years ago and made the run all the way into the ship.. I remember reading that the school said they would never do it again because they lost money from doing it.. Sounded like the AD and Team were all aboard this year and the school wasn’t on the same page because of what happened last time..

The extra practice time and game experience would be nice.

USF played in CBI last year and made finals so im guessing they have their reasons

U really cant hold it against them if they dont want to play in two other tournaments that really shouldnt exist in the first place AND lose money in the process

Apparently NIT changed selection criteria so there were auto bids that normally might not have gone

What may have ultimately sunk San Francisco’s chances was the new structure of NIT selection. The tournament is mandated to take teams that won their conference’s regular-season title, but did not win their league tournaments, which grant those winners automatic bids into the NCAAs. The fact that Harvard (NET of 129) did not win its conference tournament, but won the regular-season Ivy League title, likely contributed to the Dons’ failure to make the field.

Campbell, which won the Big South’s regular-season title and had a NET of 223, was stunned in its conference tournament by No. 4-seed Gardner-Webb, and made the field as a No. 8-seed.

Davidson is perhaps the most frustrating selection for San Francisco fans. The Wildcats have a NET of 75, a BPI of 77 and a KenPom ranking of 84, plus a loss in the Atlantic 10 semifinals. They’re a No. 4-seed.

Other teams made the field while well below the Dons in the NET.

Georgetown, with a NET of 82, finished third in the Big East behind Villanova and Marquette, and was named a No. 3-seed.

Aforementioned Harvard, which won the Ivy League regular-season title, fell to rival Yale, 97-85, in its conference tournament final on Sunday, and made the NIT as a No. 6-seed. Hofstra, which won its league’s regular season but lost in the CAA Tournament, is a No. 7-seed with a NET of 76.

Saint Francis of the Northeast Conference, with its NET of 265, is a No. 8 seed. Wichita State, at No. 83, is in as a No. 8-seed, as is Write State, at No. 140, as a No. 7-seed. Norfolk State, at an NET of 260, faces Alabama as a No. 8-seed. Sam Houston, at NET 174, is also in as a No. 8-seed. San Diego — which beat San Francisco twice this season, and has a NET of 97, got in as a No. 6 seed. Finally, last season’s NCAA darling, Loyola-Chicago, with its NET of 128, is in as a No. 7-seed

USF is far from being broke. And Fresno St is not Northern California. It is true that San Francisco doesn't give a crap about college basketball. Next subject.

A lot of people don't know it but you lose money playing in the CIT or CBI. No one watches these games. Just the players parents.

For what it’s worth Nevada won the 2016 CBI and has had 3 straight tourney invites since. Not playing the games offered is spiteful, foolish, and close minded. Given the chance to host these games can be a money maker and draw the community together for support. NV had over 9,000 in attendance for the championship. Very short sighted to turn down the opportunity IMHO.

Believe the year after Fresno made CBI or CIT Ship they also went on to make the Big Dance the following year.. As I stated earlier tho they won’t be doing that again because of the Financial Burden

I’d argue that was poorly managed by Fresno then, NV made monies in a smaller venue than Save Mart Arena.
