panthers have defeated the mountaineers the last four games played in pitt. They have won eight of the last nine in the series at home and they are 5-0 against teams ranked in the top five at the petersen events center. They have a few defeats against top 25 teams there, sporting a 10-4 mark. Overall, they are 128-11 lifetime in petersen, including a 53-10 mark against the big east. They have won 34 out of their last 35 home games, and are 13-1 at home this season. So, as bettors we are getting two points with a team that rarely loses at home and if you look at this game from the perspective of a vegas bettor, he is going to see on the board that the 5th ranked team in the country is "only" giving up two points to a team ranked 23rd. The average bettor will take west virginia. That is the wrong side on friday night. Imo

pitt may lose its second home game of the season on friday night, but i am not willing to put my money on it. Understanding the trends and the public is huge. Pitt is the right side at home. These are both very good defensive teams, and expect a low scoring game. The panthers will find a way to win at home on national television friday night. 67-64 pitt. I like the ml but i'll take the panthers and the two and a half points.

they have won 15 in a row and absolutely dominate the maac. They have so many weapons and are ridiculously balanced and loaded with senior talent. This gives me the confidence that they can go on the road and take care or business. Niagara has lost 7 of the last 10 and siena is trying to gain respect for the tourney. Siena is 17-5 ats in the last 12 years against niagara and 8-1 ats when playing on the road in niagara. 76-67 saints.

Atlanta has lost 4 of 5 overall and 3 straight on the road and i dont see them winning in one of the leagues best home teams buildings. Atlanta is 3-12-4 on the road since december and is 3 for 53 on the power play in the last 15 road games, including 0 for 4 on wednesday. the thrashers latest loss came a day after atlanta traded kari lehtonen, whose 94 wins and 204 games played are club records for a goaltender, to dallas for defenseman ivan vishnevskey and a fourth-round pick. That move came less than a week after the thrashers traded leading scorer and team captain kovalchuck to new jersey as most of you know. hedberg is 1-5-4 with a 3.01 gaa in his last 10 road games, but pavelec has been even worse with a 1-6-0 record and a 5.09 gaa in his last eight starts away from home. 3-1 wild

Afternoon plays.....

WAKE FOREST -2.5

Yellow Jackets have lost four straight road games in ACC play. Demon Deacons team revenge. Georgia Tech has lost nine of its last 11 matchups at Joel Coliseum. Wake Forest is 11-1 at home, 5-0 in conference play. The Demon Deacons have won five of six, losing only to the Yellow Jackets during that stretch. With 7-footer Chas McFarland and 6-9 sophomore Al-Farouq Aminu, Wake Forest has the personnel to match up inside with Georgia Tech, which had a 43-34 rebounding edge in last month's meeting. McFarland was held to six points and five rebounds in that contest. The senior, though, had 14 points and 11 rebounds versus the Eagles in wake's last game. Aminu added 22 points.

Aminu is averaging 16.4 points and an ACC-best 11.0 rebounds. Look for wake to get somne revenge and take over down the stretch.

RICHMOND -3

Richmond is ranked 40th overall in the country and are 6-1 against teams in the top 50. On the road, Richmond is outshooting opponents and are 38% from 3-point range, with their strong defense only allowing 28% of 3pt shots to be made. With the top of the Atlantic 10 being such a tight battle for first, Richmond knows they cannot lose a game they should win @ lowly St Bonaventure. St. Bonaventure has an overall rank of 160th in the NCAA. 148th in offense,
201st in defense. Their best player is forward Andrew Nicholson who averages 16 points per game on only 11 shots per game, shooting a very nice FG% of 60, but never once attempting a shot from outside 3pt range. In fact Bonaventure only has one 3pt scoring threat in Chris Matthews who is averaging three 3pointers per game with a 37% scoring success. A solid defensive team like Richmond will take advantage of Bonaventure’s lack of outside scoring depth, and I see this Bonaventure team getting very frustrated early on, leading to bad/forced shots throughout. Richmond won their last game against the worst team in the Atlantic 10 with 2 wins and 20 losses, Fordham, by eleven points. Prior to this, they had lost four straight games and nine of their past thirteen. They are 10-12 this season, but mostly due to a strong 4-1 start. They have shown their true colours since entering divisional play where they are only 3-6 this season. They only have a home advantage of only 3.5 points (which is only around 700th best in the country), and are 0-3 against top 50 teams this season.
I do not see St. Bonaventure getting much done today against a Richmond defense who are one of the best in the country. Richmond goes on the road and wins.

SUNDAYS PLAYS:

SYRACUSE -7.5

Syracuse is ranked 2nd with a power rating of 93.26. Louisville is ranked 44th with a power rating of 83.24. Louisville is 0-5 SU against top-50 teams, a bad sign for the Cardinals heading into a tough environment. There is one trend indicating that Louisville could be the pick. The Cardinals are 11-4 lifetime against the Orange, including four straight victories. The last win was in last season's Big East Tournament final. I think we have to remember, though, that Louisville has been very good recently. This Louisville team, while talented, is not coming together like other recent Pitino teams. I also believe that Syracuse will be playing for revenge due to last year's Big East Tournament final. Home and away numbers play to Syracuse's favor. The Orange is 15-1 at the Carrier Dome this year. Louisville, conversely, is 1-6 on the road. Some of the losses have been close, but the last game against St. John's was a complete flop. Louisville is just not right at the moment. The Rick Pitino-New Jersey Nets story from Thursday indicates that something is brewing. Even though Pitino emphatically denied the story, notice how flat his team came out on Thursday evening. The team was not playing together at all and now I believe he may have lost his team. Pitino's rough season began with a sex scandal over the summer. I am beginning to believe it will conclude with a resignation from Louisville for another job, perhaps in the NBA. Even though Louisville is down this year, its recent success combined with "flare" of the school and Rick Pitino name is keeping the spread down.
Louisville has shown little ability this season to play in a half-court game. The Syracuse 2/3 zone is going to give Cardinals' offense big-time problems. The Orange and its athletes will be able to score against Louisville's below average defense. Expect a blowout. 78-61.

GTOWN -10.5


Chris Wright, Julian Vaughn, Austin Freeman, Greg Monroe...do i need to continue. They already learned their lesson of overlooking a less-imposing opponent before facing a more high-profile one. Before facing the second-ranked orange, the No. 7 Hoyas look to win their ninth straight over Rutgers on Sunday. Earlier this month, Georgetown was preparing to take on then-No. 2 Villanova following an impressive victory over a ranked Duke team. However, the excitement over a meeting between Top 10 teams was tempered somewhat after the Hoyas were stunned 72-64 at home by South Florida prior to taking on the Wildcats.
On Thursday, georgetown will play host to Syracuse, looking to avenge an earlier road loss to the Orange before matching up with Rutgers.
Although the Scarlet Knights are near the bottom of the Big East, they have won three of four. They are coming off a 70-62 victory over Division II Caldwell College on Tuesday. (doesnt impress me lol) The way i see it, the Scarlet Knights are 0-5 against ranked opponents this season, losing by an average of 23.0 points.

Rosario, Rutgers best player who averages 16.7 points per game, is at 13.6 against ranked teams. The Hoyas have won eight straight over the Scarlet Knights. gtown is way too talented and should be very focused in making quick work of an overmatched rutgers squad. 83-57

they have beat solid opponents at home in purdue, illinois, michigan and indiana and yes they had a slip up with iowa but they wont have 2 let downs in a row. at home, nw plays very relaxed controlled ball and the fact that minnesota is 6-20 ATS in the big 10 is enough for me. The shockers cant wait to get back on the hardwood after an embarrassing loss in evansville. They will dominate from the tip and make sure they make quick work of the bears. I know trends dont mean too much but its hard for me to ignore these:
