Is it easy to impact Free Throw percentage of road teams? in college basketball?

For those that have actually left the house and gone to a college basketball game:
How easy or challenging is it to impact free throw percentage of the road team attempting to focus and hit the free throws?

Some schools do a good job of it: UNLV had the massive guy waving hands n shit and had a direct impact on visiting team FT%. Some school last week had a fake "child birth" scene going on that made the guy miss. The spinners and faces n such may help a little.

But other venues like Syracuse (carrier dome) have a major impact; visiting teams shoot 10-15% below their average FT% when visiting the carrier dome because of the affect the backdrop has on their depth perception.

    Food for thought.

This guy lost a bet (in regards to Michael Phelps):

It's great, and it is fun, but amidst the fun we need a little reality thrown in; where does the NCAA draw the limit? At one point these antics stop being fun and becomes a nuisance. In this case, they were clearly out of their seats and blocking the view of the fans behind them, not to mention violating facility dress standards. I also find it hard to believe that the fans were allowed to bring the frame around the curtain into the facility, which makes this a school sanctioned activity, which I KNOW is banned by the NCAA.
