Grab the point and play Missouri State on the road at the Charles Koch Arena versus Wichita State.
I'm well aware that Wichita State has won eight out of their last nine meetings with the Missouri State Bears and that the home team in this series is 11-4-1 against the spread in the last 16 meetings. That one loss suffered by Wichita State over the last nine in this series happened back on Jan 7 this season as the Bears won and covered as 5-point chalk, 95-87.
But this is not the same Shockers team as in seasons past despite their 11-3 record at home. Their recent performances have been inconsistent and they play tonight with added pressure of trying to improve in the MVC rankings to get a better seed in the conference Tournament.
Missouri State has been a team flying under the radar for the most part this season. With an overall 19-9 record (10-6 in conference play) including an 8-5 straight up and against the spread road record, and will be looking to right an unsteady ship having lost their previous two games, both at home. And this is certainly a good spot to be playing the Bears as they are 14-4 straight up and 14-4 against the spread their last 18 games when coming off a straight up loss and an even better 20-3 straight up and 19-3 against the spread coming off back-to-back straight up and against the spread losses.
Although Wichita State has revenge, it's a hard spot to gain payback as the Shockers are an awful 8-21 against the spread their last 29 home games and a ugly 1-11 against the spread at home playing off two straight games where they were favorites. Look for the Bears to get the season sweep as the Shockers season falls further into decline.
Missouri St. was devastated after that Winthrop game last Friday night. At least thats what coach Barry Henson said about his team in that post game press conference. He was quoted as saying "our NCAA chances just went up in smoke with this loss"
