Soooo.....Loyola Marymount is on a 6-0 ATS streak and they just beat BYU on the road, while Santa Clara has lost six straight games straight up and is off to an 0-5 start in the WCC. And LMU is only -1.5 tonight? Well.....
This is a terrible scheduling spot for LMU, as not only did they just upset BYU but they could also already be looking ahead to St, Mary’s next. Yeah the Lions have the makings of a nice team, but they are not yet to the point where they can expect to win while overlooking teams. And besides the obvious sandwich spot, Santa Clara is really not THAT bad. Looking at the 0-5 conference mark, they lost once each to the Big Three (St. Mary’s, Gonzaga, BYU) and lost at Portland, so the only real bad loss was vs. San Diego. This team beat New Mexico and Villanova out of conference, both rated ahead of LMU on the Pomeroy Ratings, so it has some ability, especially at home (6-3). LMU may look easy at first glance, but the factors I mentioned support the tiny spread. Santa Clara +110 ML my Play of the Day.
