The Pacers are a great surprise lately, as they are competitive despite playing without their best two players. They are 7-2 ATS L9 games and they have won their last 2 games against Denver and last night in Sacramento. This is a bad spot for them as not only they don’t have a deep roster and playing back to backs games is being painful for them in this season – 4-8 ATS as away underdogs, but also because they caught the Blazers in the wrong time at the wrong place.
The Blazers are one of the better teams playing at home and they are coming from a huge win against the Spurs by 102-84. We might think that this is a letdown spot for them, however the Blazers after winning a big home game (more than 15 points difference) are 5-0 ATS in the next home game. Unlike the Pacers, they are rested for this game as they had 2 days off to prepare this game and the Blazers are 5-0 ATS at home after a home game in such spot, note that the shortest line was -9 vs Utah and in each single game they won by double digits points! When teams played the second game of a back to back series in Portland, they went 4-8 ATS.
The Blazers have as well a great motivation for this game. First of all, the Pacers have won nine consecutive games against the Blazers, the longest active win streak for a Blazers opponents so despite this is the first game of the season for these teams this is a revenge game for Portland. Also with the Denver loss last night in Detroit the Blazers are almost in the top of the Northwest Disivion and playing tomorrow in Denver they can reach the top. The Blazers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 home games against a team with a losing road record and I think they will win this game by double digits points. I’m not asking too much for this team as they have a home average margin of victory of 9.55 ppg. Take Portland in here.
