    TiERnEY1127's Thread...

Well, Im new to the site and actually just joined today. I have been wagering for about 4 years or so, baseball being my favorite, and CBB coming in close at 2nd. I decided to load my sportsbook account with 110.00 and im going to challenge myself to see how well I can build that up. I placed my first wager of the year this morning and hit a two team parlay on NYY and ATL. My bankroll is now at 341.00. I will be posting my leans for this evening in a few minutes. I have liked what I have seen from the forum so far, and it seems like many of you dudes know what you are talking about when it comes to handicapping. Gl to all...

My leans for tonight are as follows. This does not mean I am playing all of these, as I will post my PLAYS shortly before game times...feel free to offer your feedback...

    Cincy +5....BAM! WINNER

Cincinnati is 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four at home and they put up 76 points a game and limit the opposition to 65.8. They are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 as a home 'dog of up to 6 1/2 points and 17-7 ATS in their last 24 after a straight-up loss.

West Virginia does not enjoy eating the chalk, as the Mountaineers are 1-7 ATS in their last eight as a favorite of up to 6 1/2 points and 0-5 ATS as a road favorite in the same scenario.

UAB +4.5 (Bought .5 to play at 5) LOSS--Too many missed shots by UAB..couldnt hang in there long enough...
(--also played them first half +2.5) BAM! WINNER

The blazers are on an ATS run of 10-2 on Thursday, 5-2 after a straight up win, and 5-2 at home against teams with a winning record. UAB is also fighting for a spot in the field of 65 and will be playing at a high level this evening. The Tigers are just 2-4 ATS on the road, and will be going against the Blazers who are unbeaten in their last 12 home games. UAB will keep this game very close..grab the points.

Purdue -2.5 Loss ---Purdue just looked awful..thats all I can really say about this game...defense was horrid)

Michigan really needed to win their last game, and were unsuccesful. Now their hopes of becoming a tourney team are very slim. Their 17-11 record is not impressive at all and they are playing a very solid Purdue team who have won 4 straight, and 10 of their last 12. Michigan is not a confident team, Purdue is...take Purdue to cover in this game.

Stanford +5.0 PUSH (Stanford hung in there and it came down to some free throws at the end)

Stanford is on ATS streaks of 13-5 at home, 11-3 as a home 'dog, 6-1 on Thursdays, 7-3 after a straight-up loss and 11-4 agaisnt teams with a winning record. Meanwhile UCLA is just 1-5 ATS in its last six after a non-cover.

    Santa Clara +10 BAM! WINNER
-----also may be a moneyline play/upset winnerLOSER--(Santa Clara fans helped lose this game for their team by costing SC two technical fouls after throwing a soda bottle and a tin baseball on the court. This game was definitely played better by SC and they should have won outright. Also, I felt the officials were poor with many "no calls" against the zags when it came to close shots...still glad they got the cover.

Yes, the Bulldogs have won four in a row overall, and they’re 12-0 in conference play. However, they were very shaky in their last two West Coast Conference road games, barely getting by San Francisco (78-73) and depleted St. Mary’s (72-70), failing to cover as favorites in both contests. In fact, prior to consecutive blowout home victories over Loyola Marymount and Pepperdine (the two worst teams in the WCC) in its last two outings, Gonzaga had been in a 5-11 ATS slump, all from the favorites roll. Santa Clara has also played Gonzaga very tough at home over the past two years losing 87-82 in overtime as a 7.5 point dog last year, and 77-69 as a 3 point dog in 2007. This time around, the Broncos are catching double digits, which in itself is noteworthy, because Santa Clara is 13-5 ATS in their last 18 games as a dog catching between 7.5 and 12 points. Santa Clara is also 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog of any number, and 5-1 ATS in their last six at home as a home dog. They are averaging 70 ppg and are 7-2 straight up during that run.

didn't cap that one so don't have much of a read [so many games on wed and thurs]. however, i like your write-up and agree Zags are struggling with large spreads. there is no way i'd back Gonzaga [hate giving that many points, much less on road]. quick look, think i like the over better than either side, but if i was playing a side, it'd be Santa Clara.

any thoughts on the over? i'm checking out in a few minutes to go play hoops, so no worries if you don't have lean on that. BOL tonight.

Ok..Im definitely on Purdue and will lock it in soon...Now..........Im considering playing UAB first half. After looking at the stats more closely, actually their last game played against one another, UAB only lost the first half by 3, and that was at Memphis in a different situation, with different ramifications. Also, the fact that UAB is fighting for their tourney life, coupled with their sold out stadium and emotional noise in the building, I think Im hitting them first half. Anyone have any thoughts on this..??

Oh wow! GL man, I'm just gonna play the first half over 63,
you are right about the ZAGS, they havent been to tough against
mediocre opponents, However, they may be looking for a big blowout win
to boost their confidence going into tourney play.
On aside note SC pissed me off on that collapse last SAT vs SF.
    Just sayin.. GL to U

Disappointed by UAB not covering...they missed way too many shots in that game and that was the difference here...not strong enough in the stretch...puts me at 3-1 tonight...probably going to be 3-2 here if Purdue doesnt turn this around..big disappointment in this game too...

My leans for today are as follows. This does not mean I am playing all of these, as I will post my PLAYS shortly before game times...feel free to offer your feedback...

    Cleveland Cavaliers -2

The Cavs lost two in a row only once, but at 37-19 ATS, they remain the best pointspread team in the NBA, having had just a pair of three-game ATS slides and one two-game ATS slump. Otherwise, Cleveland hasn’t gone consecutive games without cashing. Furthermore, the Cavs have been as good as any team in the league on back-to-back situations (9-3 ATS) and they're 10-1 SU following a loss this year. And while they struggle to cover spreads in Thursday night marquee games (now 3-10 ATS in the last 13 TNT showcase games), they’re a rock-solid 9-1 ATS in their last 10 contests on Fridays.

Philadelphia 76ers/NY Knicks Over total 213.5

Really like the over in this matchup. The Knicks have been scoring at will lately, going over the total in their last 8 home games. The last two teams these teams met at Madison Square Garden, the total was 226. Nate Robinson, since winning the dunk contest, is averaging almost 30 ppg. Philly, since Brand went down with an injury, has been playing a more wide open offense and trying to get easier points with fast breaks.

    Los Angeles Lakers -2

The Lakers are 20-8 against the spread when playing with no rest and they are 10-4 against the spread in their last 14 games overall. LA is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 road games and are 7-1 ATS on the road against winning teams. Denver is 2-6 ATS their last 8 games as underdogs, and 2-6 ATS on Fridays. Finally, Denver is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games against the Lakers.

    Columbia +5

When Columbia takes on Harvard in an Ivy League clash tonight they will do so knowing the fact that the Lions are 9-1 ATS in this series on this floor. With Columbia coming off an 8-point loss and Harvard off a 6-point upset win, look for more of the same here tonight and for Columbia to cover the spread once again.

Loyola Chicago +2.5----Possible Moneyline Play/Upset Winner

It is revenge time once again for Loyola Chicago who looks to avenge a home loss against the flames from last season. The game is big for both teams as playoff seedings are on the line. Loyola needs a win in this game and a Youngstown State loss on Saturday to secure a first-round home game, which then would be played against youngstown state. A victory over Butler made Loyola the only Horizon team to own victories over the conference's top two teams (Butler and Green Bay). 70 points has been the benchmark for success for the Ramblers. A year ago, Loyola went 7-0 when totaling at least 70 points. In fact, dating back to the 2006-07 season, Loyola has won 19 of its last 23 contests when it reaches the 70-point plateau, and is 7-3 when doing so this year. Improved efficiency at the offensive end of the floor has helped fuel Loyola to its last eight victories as they are averaging 73.5 ppg, 10 points more than their season average, while draining shots at a 49 percent clip. Conversely, when the Ramblers surrender 70 or more points this season, they are 0-13. The good news is that the Flames are not averaging even close to that when playing on the road, tallying just 64.8 ppg and topping the 70-point mark only four times in 14 games away from home. Long range shooting has also been an added bonus to the recent success for the Ramblers. In the first 16 outings of the year, the Ramblers shot only 29 percent from three-point territory but over the last 14 games, Loyola has vastly improved by hitting 34 percent of its tries from beyond the arc. Look for the Ramblers to get their revenge tonight in a great spot and get halfway to the prize of getting a home conference tournament game.

Ok those are my leans for tonight...will be back in a bit with my plays for this afternoons MLB games...
