By now you probably know what New Jersey Nets owner and Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov said on Wednesday night after arriving in the United States. It was thought Prokhorov was coming to meet with Denver star Carmelo Anthony in the hopes of finalizing Anthony’s long-rumored trade to New Jersey. Instead, Prokhorov surprised the media by saying this:

"I'm not happy with the way … this deal has gone until now," Prokhorov said. "It has taken too long. It has been played out in public and it certainly has taken a toll on the players and I believe that it has cost us several games. I think management did a great job, but there comes a time when the price is simply too expensive. I'm instructing our team to walk away from the deal."

So that’s it, at least in terms of New Jersey. Probably. Or is Prokhorov putting pressure on the Nuggets to lower their price? By the way, free of all the Anthony talk, the Nets ended a six-game skid on Wednesday night in upsetting Utah.
