Antonio Davis runs into stands during overtime in Chicago

Someone was messing with his wife and he went to help his family. I dont blame the guy, and the league shouldnt come down to hard on him for it. He got ejected, that is enough.

During a timeout, Davis jumped over the scorers' table and ascended about 10 rows of seats before the confrontation started.

A group of people in the area of the confrontation were later escorted from the area by United Center security.

Tough situation here. I know he was defending his wife, but the league has strict rules about going into the stands especially after last year. My guess is he gets a 7-10 game suspension.

Well they have to look into this one , and do something. I just heard on ESPN that he was watching for a possession or two and when he had the chance he went up there. So security obviously didnt react fast enough, so he felt he had to do something. His son was also up there. I think the NBA needs to address the security issues they are having, and I dont think changing the dress code is one of them.

Well this one will be a interesting one to see what Stern comes up with. If he enforces the rules, or lets it slide a bit.

Maybe a 1 game or even a 2 game suspension is due, but I dont think the guy should be suspended a week or more for being concerned about his family.

he's gonna get some kind of suspension out of this. i'm guessing probly 10 games, after stern laid down the rules last year after that brawl in detriot.

Watching Cold Pizza, and a reporter who was there just did an interview. What she said was that Davis' wife kept on standing up and obstructing a bald guy with a yellow jacket's view. So after him and a guess another few fans got fed up with her standing up and blocking their view, they actually called security. It seems that security was already there and looking to resolve the issue by the time Davis went up. Dont know the total truth behind this but non the less their was a news lady who did this interview just 15 min ago on cold pizza.

Davis gets a 5 game suspension. I really think it's a fair punishment.

They took into consideration the family issue. It also helped that he was well respected.

    check it out...

Fan wants apology from Knicks player who entered stands

By DAVID BRUMMER, Associated Press Writer
    January 20, 2006

CHICAGO (AP) -- The fan accused of harassing the wife of New York Knicks forward Antonio Davis will drop threats of a lawsuit if the couple apologizes, the man's attorney said Friday.

Attorney Jay Paul Deratany planned to send a letter to the couple on Friday, asking Davis to make a donation to a charity that tries to prevent violence against women and children. Deratany e-mailed a copy of the letter to The Associated Press.

Davis was suspended five games by the NBA on Thursday, a day after he went into the stands during a game at the United Center in Chicago to confront 22-year-old Michael Axelrod.

Davis' statement after the game said the man he thought was threatening his wife, Kendra, was drunk. Axelrod said all he had was a glass of wine at dinner, and that he did nothing wrong.

Axelrod is asking Davis to take back his comments. He said several witnesses and videotapes of the event back up his client's claims.

Deratany said he would give the Davises about a week to respond.

"Both of us respect the game and the point was to send a message not to harass fans -- either physically or by later comments that disparage their character," Deratany said Friday. "If that's accomplished, then it's time to move on. It's never been about money."

On Thursday, Deratany said he planned to sue Davis and his wife for more than $1 million, alleging battery by Kendra Davis and slander by her husband.

On Friday, Deratany said the $1 million figure was inflated, but declined to say how much his client would seek.

Axelrod's father, David, is a prominent Democratic political consultant in Chicago who has worked with Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley.
