I guess Ben Simmons does not trust the process...

Ben Simmons wants out of Philly.

He will not report to 76ers training camp next week and says he has played his last game as a 6er.

This feels like a win for Philadelphia? The guy can't shoot a jump shot. Sure it sucks to lose a #1 draft choice but this guy was never winning them a title. Best to move on. Use that cap money on other players.

I think it's more the case that the process does not Trust Ben. After his lackluster performance in the playoffs I think his fellow players and mgt lost confidence in him. Time to move on.

Very little market for a guard that can't shoot is terrible at the free throw line and an over all pain in the ass.

Simmons has 4 years $147m left on his deal!!! I get that he's efficient and his advanced stats are nice.

But how is this guy's contract even above water... let alone someone with the leverage to demand a trade?

This would be like if Kevin Love or Tobias Harris "demanded" a trade

Nobody is clamoring for him. They're going to have to take on bad salary to trade him.

I think they will fall hard this season. Embiid probably gets hurt and they suck. Maybe miss the playoffs.

If Embiid gets hurt then yes Philly is done

But if he's healthy and they get something back for Simmons, then they can compete in the East. Don't see much difference among any of ATL, PHI, BOS, MIA. Maybe things go south for the Nets again and it's one of these teams vs the Bucks in the Conference Finals

This relationship with Simmons and Philly is about to get very ugly. Simmons is not going to report and the 6ers won't be able to find a trade partner unless they unload him for peanuts, which they won't. It's about to get very personal.

There are also some other rising teams, like the Bulls and maybe Knicks, Pacers, Hornets.

Due process is what seperates us from the rest of the world moron.

Unless you lead a mutiny, insurrection and charge them the capitol where cops and people are murdred.

    Then nothing happens.

And Philly doesn't really want him back and he for sure doesn't want to go back.

Yep... a good player. Crazy contract though. He might be good for like Charlotte.... I don't know of any team that would pick up that contract. Dude has to hit free throws. I don't understand him??? Sit your ass in a gym for 2 months straight and shoot 200-300 free throws a day. What is he doing with his time??

I no longer even value the NBA. I’ll make some bets this year but my days of die hard capping it are over. The game has changed so much. It was great in the 2005-2015 range. Now it’s just a 3pt shootout with no defense and passing is now at a premium. Guys can’t pass for shit anymore. Guys like Ben Simmons are a liability on offense late in the game cuz they can’t make a ft. Sport is pitiful. Never EVER thought I would prefer NCAA hoops over pro but I like college so much more it’s not even funny.

I agree. The Warriors at least played some D for a few of those title runs. Now it’s just a race to 125 points wins the game. I remember when a total of 219 was A LOT. Now books religiously hang totals of 235+ It’s asinine.

Something off with Simmons mentally... I think the free throws have gotten to him.... I think he's making a terrible decision by wanting to leave Philly. I think his career will tank now. Something just isn't right with this dude. I don't think anyone can save him.

He's an elite defender though, like generational elite, on that side of the ball. I think we'll see him be a DPOY candidate and 1st team all defense for many more years. That's really hard to come by in the NBA at the PG position. It's virtually impossible.

So he has a lot of value around the league I'd say. I don't think he has to be a great jump shooter or even a jump shooter. He just has to bring his FTs to the mid 70s, and learn to hit a 15 foot jumper. Shouldn't be hard.

I think he can help a team like Portland. I would take him over CJ Mccollum for sure.
