Points shouldn't count toward a triple double

This might sound like one of those Big Bear threads but I'm actually serious. All the other categories: assists, rebounds and blocks you obviously get one at a time as opposed to points, free throws notwithstanding. Long story short if you're gonna count points it should be 10 field goals made, otherwise you could go 0 for 15 from the floor and make 10 free throws & somehow those 10 points would count just as much as 10 rebounds & assists.

interesting theory. never thought of this.

how about field goals made and not points? eliminate the free throws cause they are supposed to be easy even if they are not

Maybe we should come up with a new number system, so ten is not the first double digit number.

Also true in baseball when someone has 100 runs and 100 RBIs. The RBI shouldn’t count because the hitter can get more than one at a time.

Or football a running back who goes for 1000 / 10 for the season should only count carries and TDS, not yards.
