NBA,NHL etc ticket holders are stuck...

per article in USA Today...Tensions are starting to simmer between professional sports teams and some of their best customers.
After postponing games indefinitely because of the COVID-19 pandemic, teams from the NBA, NHL and major league baseball are effectively keeping the money of customers who bought tickets to those games. Instead of giving cash refunds, these businesses have operated under their normal ticket policies for postponed or rained-out games – holding the money as credit to be used whenever their games resume.
But these aren’t normal times, and these are not normal postponements. And with the nation’s economy continuing to crater, ticket holders want their money back in cash, even if those games haven’t yet been officially canceled.

This is silly. The leagues are not doing anything wrong here. They have terms on their tickets for a reason. If the games are cancelled or take place without fans, they'll get their refunds. Coronavirus is affecting everyone in different ways. Those are the breaks.

Yeah, the NBA still thinks there's hope of a season. All about money of course; got to get to 70 games plus playoffs for that TV money. Mark Cuban thinks the NBA can resume in May what an idiot. Death toll 1K in USA today.

To think of it, season tickets money, along with TV rights money, are the two major driving forces behind re-starting pro sports sooner rather than later. They can kick it off with empty stands and reduced staff (less security, no hot dog/beer vendors etc) and eventually bring back some fans, even if it's 5 or 10% of arena capacity. Whatever money fans are willing to spend, should be spent on staff compensation by the stadiums, this way these people will be able to eat and not be a burden on government emergency funds.

A little crowd noise still beats no crowd noise.

And sports with no crowd definitely beats no sports at all.

You might be right. But until they make that final decision to cancel the season, it makes sense to hold onto the money.

The NFL should seriously build a hospital or two, and keep it running at its own expense for the foreseeable future. Hospital, or a medical equipment factory.

Even die-hard fans can get sick of owners squeezing 'stadium money' from the city. Time to give back, maybe?

Drew Brees pledged 5 million today to Louisiana. He is doing his part to help but yeah tickets have special terms. It will be interesting how any of these teams can make up these games if this crisis goes on a lot longer.
