Cavs -6: Get that separation and roll to the buzzer.
The number ain't bad.. it's priced for the closeness of the series thus far,
but this is when the Cavs separate. If they get this, an off night in Gm 6
at Indy doesn't kill them. Indy could be looking ahead to Gm 6 which would
get them a Gm 7. This alone is no reason to lay 6 with the Cavs, but it's
advantage in series flow.
So we think about what LeBron said post-game on the court at Indy.
He said the team has gone through a lot of starter lineup changes and they
have to smooth out the kinks, so to speak, in order to cut down on mistakes
so they gel better. He mentioned practice as their way of getting tighter
and faster with the plays.. expect the starters to enter this game with specific
plays they want to push against Indy's defense, not as purely creative which
was hit-and-miss.. if they are sharper on both sides of the ball they can
accomplish that separation in points that makes the cover highly likely.
Separation is what the Cavs want.. not another stressful late heroics situation.
LeBron wants a comfortable lead so he can relax and play ball/clock control to the end.
Indy has been getting by on shotmaking heroics that require a high FG and 3P %.
At some point this won't continue for them, especially with the venue and Cavs signature
defense.. Tonight we see the Cavs team that will go deeper in the tournament show
its character... your standard beat-down and nodding, hand-slapping Cavathon.
Pick: All the King's Men -6
Gluck, can’t expect them to blowout the Pacers as good as they’ve been on defense. It’s literally all on LeBron and it’s a lot to shoulder on offense and defense. After a loss pacers play a lot better, Oladipo won’t play that bad again, he’s actually better on the road. George Hill is prob not gonna play, Paying a Tax on taking -6, they could lose this game.
