I agree, his foot was completely turned around. The average person cannot stomach that.

My wife did the same thing playing indoor soccer on carpet, tore everything in the ankle and broke the lower leg bone. Plate, a lot of screws, and rehab.

    Damn that sucks.

I broke my arm in 3 places in a HS football game. The bone was sticking out of my arm bleeding all over the place. Players on both teams were throwing up. I didn't even feel it initially, until people were so shocked and kept saying that I was going to go in shock or pass out.

I thought the East would be better than the West this year but this injury really hurts the Celtic's. I still think both conferences are more equal than most think.

Announcers are saying that they hope it's just ligament damage and he can come back in a few months? WTF? That's a break for damn sure. No doubt about it. He's done for the year.

I really doubt it. He's looking at 5 or 6 months of ZERO weight on that leg. Zero. He can't even go swimming on that ankle. Nothing. He is laid up the next few months. The playoffs start in 6 months with the Finals in 8. His leg is going to be so atrophied, he won't be doing much when he finally starts walking on it. Even if they find a way to keep his quads and hamstrings in shape the actual ankle movement is going to take upwards to a year to get anywhere back to normal. This isn't an injury you can speed up with roids or stem cells. Pins and plates take a while to mend with bones.

God damn. Why couldn't I resist, and not watch that. I'm glad I can't jump. Gave up trying after seeing some guy in front of me snap his leg doing hurdles. Said fck it after that. Never broke a bone. Well my pinky knuckle or whatever punching a handicap sign outside the casino. Fck that was brutal to watch. His shit is fcked.

I tore 2 ligaments (complete tears) in my ankle and sustained 3 partial fractures. When it happened it was probably the worst pain I ever felt. I hopped off the court with one leg and said "I'll be back in about 3 weeks to everyone."

I ended up not getting surgery, and I had to use crutches (no weight bearing) for close to two months. After that I was in a walking boot for another 2 months. And then I had to do 3 months of rehab.

After that, I ended up having to get surgery to remove some bone spurs. It's been a year and a half now, and I work on my ankle every day. It's like a side job, and I'm still not back to 100%. I would say I'm stronger than before (can dunk a volleyball now), but there is still lingering pain and tightness. And that probably will never go away.

Whoever said ligament damage -- ligament damage (complete tears) are far worse than breaks. Of course, it depends how many breaks you sustained. But if you just break your ankle (like Odell Beckham did), compared to tearing two ligaments in your ankle -- the bone will heal in about 8 weeks, then another 6-10 weeks of rehab. The ligaments will never grow back, and with surgery, you're still out for 6 months even if you're a top notch athlete.

ACL is a ligament. That's why it usually takes 8 months -1 year to recover from that, even with surgery.

Pretty nasty. Still doesn't compare to the kid from Louisville Kevin Ware who snapped his leg and the bone was sticking out of the skin

Horrible injury. Boston - Cleveland rivalry seemed to be one of the things to look forward in this season. With Hayward out, it won't be the same.

IF he makes a full recovery for NEXT year, the Celtics MIGHT just be better off to make a run in 2018-19.
All his minutes will go to the youngin`s. They still make the playoffs this year, so the kids get more experience.
Even if they somehow made the finals this year, a healthy Warriors take them down easily.

I am not saying I am happy for the injury, or in any way would I rather see this scenario play out.
Just looking for a rusty, corrosive fukked up lining to this situation.

I had a major ankle sprain a half a year ago, it was so bad I couldn't put weight on it for 3 days, ballooned up so big I couldn't wear a shoe for a week.. I was running and hit a tree root in tall grass, all weight came down on the complete fold and I went down.. Worst pain ever when it happened, felt like someone put a knife in my ankle..

I've had bad ankle sprains many times before but this last one was the worst ever. Ankle just getting back to 100 percent now, it's been almost 6 months.. Still gets stiff once in a while though.. I think I tore something..

Anyways, I can't imagine this break being any more painful then my severe ankle sprain.. You take the pain and go forward...I couldn't sleep the first night from the pain and I was pounding advils to...

My ankle looked worse then in this random ankle sprain picture below..

Hell, even doctors don't know. My surgeon who is one of the best in Texas (does the Texans, Rockets, UH and most HS athletes) said I would be back on the court in 6 months max. I go see him at 6 months and I'm not even close to being back and he says, "I never said 6 months, I said 9 months". I know what the hell he told me. Well, anyway it's taken 13 months. I talked to his assistant and she told me that he's always too optimistic and tells patients what they want to hear.

This could be the worst injury I've seen on an NBA court in my lifetime. Maybe I'm forgetting something, but this one was horrific.

Looked more like an NFL injury.

Ankles are so tricky. Most of these players already have high cases of ligament damage and bone spurs because they've been jumping so much. That injury was multiple fractures. He has a long road ahead. I don't envy him because I just went through it. My entire leg had to be numbed for 4 days after the surgery. The pain would have been intolerable. Then your body has to accept screws and metal plates. I would be shocked if he came back less than 6 months. I think he's looking at a minimum of 9 months to a year. He would be lucky if he can be ready for the start of next year IMO.

Just remember these top pro athletes get THE BEST surgeons, treatments and medical care available.. Rehab center will be top notch as well.. I'd venture to guess Haywood probably comes back a little faster then the averages may indicate for this type of injury..

He's a young guy as well, younger people heal up faster...

Well I didn't think they could take cavs in 7 game series before. After this post they might win it all. They far from done, Tatum and brown can play they still 3rd team in east at worst. Only huge issue is smart gonna have to take more minutes and I dunno if he always looks like last night but I cringed when that dude got ball, like watching a train wreck.
