Mike Dantoni spread offense too much for the Spurs

He did this with the Suns years ago to the spurs. Rockets might sweep

You're thinking of 2010 Suns/Spurs... that was actually Alvin Gentry but I get your point.

I think most people expect a bounce back from Spurs. Big difference between dropping game 1 by 10 points and losing by about 30. I don't think it's a given Spurs tie it up in game 2. We will find out just how great Pop is by tomorrow night. If he makes the proper adjustments I think Spurs bounce back and win. Pop needs to go smaller. Stop playing David Lee. Use Dedmon a lot. Use Simmons a lot too. Not sure they can win without Aldridge stepping up though.

Aldridge is the key but unfortunately for Pops he is scared to post up against guys 6 inches shorter than him. He needs to play like Shaq but he's playing like Dwight Howard.

Didnt watch game till late 3rd but was thinking this, I racked up on each game that series killed it. Was obvious Suns were too young and Spurs couldnt keep up. This wont be too much different except this Rockets team has a little more lull to them, I think. Spurs should win at least 1 or 2 maybe, but Pop has to seriously be thinking if he wants to continue as coach. Spurs have been a little too loyal, how can they continue to pay Parker and Manu after this year, theyve already stolen a few years as it is. Last 3 years also they picked up power forwards at least 2-3 years later than when they should have gotten them. Like West, Aldridge, Gasol, Lee. Team needs to be gutted and start over with Kawhi, need some trades and spend some money, but I think Pop has to hang it up soon.

If this Spurs can get hot, they'll win Game 2. Maybe even comfortably.

Man, Houston shoots 22 of 50 on 3's which is just as good as 66% on two's and that is hard to beat. Spurs hit a lousy 9 for 29. Houston could very easily only make 14 and the Spurs could hit 5 more.

But, why would you get in a track meet or 3 point bombing game with Houston? I guess you would if you get behind and Houston controls the tempo?

Spurs control the tempo and those threes do not drop at that rate - will be a different game next time. If houston can bomb 44% on 50 3 pointers every night - nobody would beat them.

Usually the home team coach gets interviewed to start the 4th quarter. That never happened. Not sure if it was because they were settling the skirmish between Dedmon and Nene though.

D'Antoni schemes are over Pop's head.
Spurs players clueless on defense, they don't know what to do,
who to cover, how to cover. They can't set a spread and get
caught standing still. They can't cover the pick n' roll. Pau Gasol
is an old joke in the paint. Aldridge and Leonard are focused on
trying to score, not on figuring out the Rockets offense. You can't.
Parker is still quick but only in spurts, not constantly.
It's 4 seconds from a Spurs perimeter basket to a fast break, long pass
and bang - Rockets respond, this is demoralizing San Antonio.
Pops can't stop them in the half-court. They are too good !
Too fast, too accurate and too automatic in their execution of complex
offensive schemes that D'Antoni has taught them.

    Rockets ML 205

I'd like to see San Antonio with a 14+ point lead... and see how Houston handles it. If Houston comes back and ties it up... love to see the look on the Spurs players.

Only guy doing anything is Leonard. One man band currently.

I understand Pop loves coaching basketball. But honestly... how deep will the Spurs be next year? Would POP think about retiring in the off-season?

I just think the Dynasty is over. 5-6 years to rebuild.

Houston will win tonight and then sweep at home.

Spurs struggled with memphis who is a good matchup for them, they cant compete with the rockets shooting and athleticism.

Never has a pop team been so reliant on 1 on 1 iso ball, and kawhi doing that cant compete with the 3's and easy 2's the rockets get.

Gotta admit the Spurs look old and worn out and very beatable right now..

I certainly won't be betting on them from this point forward.. Grizz series they got exposed, lost already to the Rockets at home in a 30 point blowout and got ran out of the building...

This next game tonight will tell the tail on where they are going in this series.. Spurs need this win badly...

Early action favors Spurs, as the squares figure Spurs
need this and "just had a bad game" in the opener.
