It's a copy cat league. One team (Spurs) starts doing it successfully...others copy them. The difference is San Antonio generally has done it with older (35+) players.

I've always said I'll never make it past 70. You really never see taller guys making it that far. Only frail shorter individuals. I'll be dead by 35 regardless, so doesn't matter but Bird is right. I'd take my chances drinking his ass under the table though.

But coaches want their players to get rest days. You seem to assume players are begging out.

Do NFL teams rest star qb's in week 5?

How many health scratches has Kane or toews gotten?

The issue is the NBA is not a competitive league.

The commissioner needs to fix that.

Resting players that are healthy this early in the season is nonsense.

NFL and NHL don't legislate anything preventing resting players.

NBA could shorten the season and the reduce number of playoff teams. Those sorts of things might help. But I don't see how the commish can tell teams they can't rest players.

Make the regular season about 50 games.

Pay players based on minutes and/or games played.

The problem is the regular-season is way too long, and nobody gives a shit about a Wednesday night game in the middle of December. That's why the NFL flourishes, because every game matters.

No one cares when baseball players take a game off because it's not a star-driven league.

LOL what. Can you imagine the animosity that would cause.

Shorten season, good, but it's about the $$. Maybe cut to 74. And cut postseason to 6 teams per league and give top two a bye to second round. Create some real incentive to be top 2 in the league.

What an awful product the NBA is.

A league where the fave to win the title before the season has odds that are juicer than most NHL faves to win a game on any given night.

    Hilarious.

Lakerman can't really compare NHL to NBA, you got 40 year olds out there playing the NHL just fine. Sport doesn't require that much athleticism it's just mostly skill and you'll have some soreness from skating and taking some hits. Basketball much rougher but these are best athletes in the world so they should be playing all the games.

You are right about the competition. If a bunch of teams were playing for top seeds it'd be different.

This is setting a horrible trend. It's mainly pop's fault tbh.

You have to extend the season by a couple weeks at least, maybe cut down 82 games to 80.

Not sure what other options there are, as you can't really legislate something like this. Can't confirm whether a player is fit enough to play. You could not have a sprain or anything -- be cleared by the doctor's -- but Pop will play you like 10 minutes -- especially if he feels you are fatigued/sore and hurting the team's chance to win.

Adam Silver isn't dumb. He will address this in the offseason.

I take it you haven't played hockey, at least not competitively? I've played both, hockey collegiality. Albeit, only high school basketball, and I could have played basketball all day long. Hockey not so much. Go and block a 90mph puck where there's no padding, then go and run around for a couple hours on the basketball court and tell me which is worse.

There is one guy over 40 in the NHL.

Did you just say basketball is much rougher than hockey?

Basketball players have muscles. NHL players are way more fit.

This is why I want the league to be shorter. 82 games is too much. Even players get bored.

what do you mean "allows" resting days? Even though NBA is identical to the slave trade, from what i know slavery was abolished years ago.. if a player decides to sit he should be able to without any harassment.. even 2 or 3 days if he decides to.. that fan that spent all that money to see him play, should have took 2 seconds to fukkin read that lebron and others are sitting its not that hard

Thanks Mr silver for listening to my concerns. All players dressed now at least revert if they aren't trying. I love to make sure that these guys tie up the laces.
