Why do dogs always lose in overtime?

I swear 9/10 times when the game goes to OT the fav wins, and better yet, covers the spread, even if it's goddamn 10 points. Another thing, recently I started taking big dog MLs because most of the time they seem to either win outright or not cover at all. And out of the last 15 picks I saw at least 5 goddamn overtimes, what are the goddamn odds? All I need is a result like 87:86 to cash a nice +300 ticket, but nooo, it has to go exactly 86:86 and then 95:107 for the fav. How can draws happen so often in one of the highest scoring sports? And the funny thing is, if I wanted to pick draws on purpose, I'd most likely get 30 losers in a row.

    I have a database...

Over the past 3 seasons there have been 3629 favs. If you bet them ATS you'd be 45 units down. If you bet them on the ML you'd be 44 units up (sans the vig in both instances, thus you'd be down in both cases).

    Nice input.
