Russell Westbrook signs an extension to stay in Oklahoma City.

    Breaking news.

    He won't be a Laker.

The Thunder are officially his team.

We will see if he can lead them to the promised land now that they've gotten rid of that cancer Kevin Durant.

Kraken, check in and tell us your feelings. I know you've been in contact with Russell the last few days. Give us your thoughts.

    Kraken is a good guy.

He is just a prisoner to self-medicating himself, and therefore his mind is clouded and he loves Hillary.

He is still my friend. I would run through a wall for that guy.

would be awesome if at the trade deadline, they go after a top soon to be free agent.

People forget how good oladipo is. He will average 20 and 7 or 8 reb and assists a game and play D

Durant is a bitch that wanted his shots to come easier.

Westbrook is a competitor that has the heart of a lion.

Now maybe people will understand why I've always had a Westbrook avatar instead of a GayD avatar.

Durant is a fraud. He says all the right things and acts like he is some great guy but his actions say otherwise.

Russell lets his actions speak for themselves.

It's going to be funny watching Durant try to be a tough guy villain this year when really he is a finesse player.

If Drant just wanted a change of scenery, fine. Goto Boston and no one would hate you. But to go to a 73 win team that you just choked a 3-1 lead to.....to become great friend to a guy that was kicking your teammates in the nuts....that's just weak sauce.

Kanter and Adams make you earn your rebounds and inside baskets. How good will Sabonis be? Can Oladipo go to a 2 spot? They might be OK? Maybe, their defense will be a lot better. That switch on ball screens allowed Curry to slice and dice Durant.

Durant was proclaimed as overrated by Deemer year in and year out. His move cements my sentiments.

Okc still needs a scorer. Love Russell. Good for him.

Big cajones move by him. Roster moves make them STILL one of top 3 teams talent wise. If the young guys improve this year as much as they did last year--they will compete for title before he leaves this contract

I'm not a fan of either but the nonsense some guys say here is......i've heard many times in this same forum from people how Durant doesn't really like playing with Westbrook and how Westbrook is trying to take Durant's place on the field. Have you ever thought maybe Durant doesn't really like Westy as team mate and decided to leave rather than asking management to deal westbrook? Fans just want things to be as they want.
Deal with it. Durant made the best move for himself and Westbrook did as well. SIMPLE!

Could you imagine OKC if Westbrook walked away?

Management had no choice but to give him keys to the bank vault.

In reality it is just a 1 year deal if he doesn't like the direction of team. He can easily force a trade.

Not sure why it is such a big deal for Durant to leave. He honored his contract for 9 years and put OKC on map. He decided it was time to move on and he chose the situation he felt the most comfortable with.

Its not that he decided to leave OKC...it's where he went

I get that he can go wherever he wants but fans can blast the move too....it seems very weak to many fans but if KD is happy then good for him

I agree with this. No such thing as loyalty anymore. If you are old and washed up.... you get less money... period. That's just the way it works.

Didn't D-Wade take a pay cut for 2 or 3 years? He didn't have to sacrifice 1 dollar... but he did... to help an organization. Sometimes.. you just have to leave... walk away... and do things for your own best interest.

I think if he went anywhere but the team that just knocked his team out people wouldn't care much

    Yes.

It's like if Magic Johnson joined the Celtics after just losing to Boston. Or Larry Bird joining the Lakers after just losing to them. It's gutless.

Durant could have gone anywhere else in the league, and wouldn't have been as vilified.

not a valid argument as there was no free agency until 1988. celts/lakers rivalry was just winding down. easy for guys to say they wouldn't have swapped jerseys when they didn't have the option to do so.

I was just using Magic and Larry as examples. You could use any superstar from 1988 (I honestly didn't know it was that recent, just looked it up - Tom Chambers!), in their prime, and you would be hard-pressed to find a bigger weasel move.

Stephen A Smith agrees that it was a pussy move, and he is the greatest basketball mind of the 21st century. Just ask him.

Durant has every right to go wherever he wants. Just like we have every right to criticize him.

I love his defense ...his offense not so much. That's an interesting backcourt though -they will turn people over like no other pairing can.
