Why is 33% 3-point considered bad?

Doesn't that make 99 points in 100 possessions. While the NBA average for 2 points made is 45%. So 33% is definitely way better. For some reason Stephen A Smith and Skip Bayless are saying 33% is a terrible 3 point percentage

Not bad for your average player. Shoot that as a team and you will probably lose. Lots of long rebounds lead to fast break points for the other team.

I wish there was a stat broken down of rebounds off of 5 ft shots 15 ft shots and 3 pointers. I would assume it would be something teams would want to know; seems like it would be easier to get offensive rebounds off of 3 point shots, but that is just a guess

Corner 3 points misses often lead to fast breaks

NBA avg. this year was .354; .333 isn't terrible.

It isn't terrible but it's certainly not good either. It's quite a bit below the league average.

That corner 3 idea was a Phil Jackson or a Byron Scott thing, I don't remember, but stats came around later to prove them wrong.

And crashing the boards leads to fast breaks, not so much 3s, since you already have at least one guy back, likely two. Long rebounds also give smaller teams a better chance to get an offensive rebound.

So I think Ballerholic is onto something. Take a lot of 3s, up your odds by bringing on a bunch of people who can hit them, have just enough options inside to keep the D honest, and voilla!! GSW.

Because out of a 100 possessions shooting 50 percent while taking nothing but 2 pointers will accumulate a 100 points. Thus you a team will lose a point shooting a 100 3's at 33 percent. Must be 34 % or higher.

Almost nobody shoots 50% 2 pointers IIRC. Your only hope are really good big men that get layups and dunks.

I follow Haralabos Voulgaris on Twitter. I've never seen the game the same way since.
