    Poor TV ratings for NBA game

    Game 1 of the NBA Finals drew the lowest rating ever for an opening-game in prime time, dropping 19 percent from last year.

    The San Antonio Spurs' 85-76 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night earned a 6.3 rating and 11 share on ABC. The previous low was a 6.4/11 in 2003.

    Last year's Game 1 between Miami and Dallas earned a 7.8 rating and 14 share.
    After the less than exciting Game 1, and going up against the Sopranos finale, Game 2 could be under 6.0.

    Even I won't be watching game 2... Mainly because I'll be there. There have been worse Finals (only a few, but still...) The abbreviated '99 season had an even worse finals involving SA (though at least the NY market was captured there).

    I'd like to watch the game and Tivo the Sopranos, but I'm afraid I'll hear what happened on the Sopranos before I watch the recording tomorrow evening. Thus NBA will have one less fan watching their game at 9:10 pm on a Sunday night. Day games in various sports championships used to be so awesome...
