LeBron opted out to take a pay cut

this is my guess.. they need to sign a lot of guys.. and these guys want/need their money.
i think he saw what Duncan and Dirk did, and thinks those were solid moves.

    this would not surprise me.

what other reason would there be? he was already making the Max.
He's not planning on going to another team..

his team in his first year back went to the Finals
    WITHOUT Love, and Irving..

the only logical reason to opt out, is to take less, and create
an example for the other players to follow

He opted out for 2 reasons:

    1. WAY MORE MONEY with the way the new CBA is going to inflate over the next couple years. Most likely he will sign a couple 1 or 2 year contracts with opt out clauses after every year.
    2. CLE does have a lot of money to sign and I think they need to sign every body else so they can go over the cap with LBJs Bird rights.

~Your scenario...it would mildly surprise me if he took a pay cut here because he has shown a willingness to do that.

This is a likely possibility...but I always assumed he did it to take advantage of the new deal next year...financially it makes sense...all the max players who sign new deals next year are going to make an obscene amount of money...and this guy deserves it...a lot more than that clown down in LA does..thats for sure...I am surprised Love did not wait till next year to do it as well...guess he did not want to take any chances...as often as he gets injured...

Nah fam, Lebron has always been vocal and talked about how the players are not being paid enough. Everyone knew of the new TV deal NBA signed and that will kick in soon, Reason why Lebron only even signed 2 years is particularly because of this. If he had signed the max a year ago he would only have been able to get like a 4 year 90mil contract but now he can sign a 5 year 140 mil plus contract. This is nothing about taking a pay cut instead a huge pay rise

hey Menses.. it is what i would do... i think he is looking at Duncan, and the success that created..
i imagine he wants that to work at least as well as SA, and create same long standing success, even when
he is no longer the No.1 scoring option

interesting... also intriguing that LeBron and his agent paul, are doing Tristan's contract first..
TT needs/wants to be taken seriously, and may be a little immature..
that is to say may walk if no max contract.. if TT receives a max deal..
LeBron may be forced into either a short $20M, or a longer pay cut deal..

but he knows what his doing..

LBJ and TT both have the same agent, so really Paul is going to do what LBJ tells him to do

hes making sure his teammates get their money before he resigns for the max
but if hes gonna go that route, hes gonna have to assume more of the blame

he is putting Tristan's contract before his own... he knows that TT's Offensive Boards
were a huge part of their success

LeBron is never taking anything but the max for, if nothing else, the competitive spirit of the league. He's just waiting for the cavs to finish signing/trading whoever before he signs another 1+1 max deal. CAvs have the bird rights to sign him and go over the cap

LOL because LBJ has never not taken 143% of the blame
