can't believe the clips are gonna offer deandre jordan max contract...

this isn't right. they should add in a clause that says he has to shoot at least 70% from the line. the guy is too one dimensional to get the max. also, he's lucky that greedy jew sterling's no longer the owner.

    Apparently the Mavs want him.

Not sure what to think of this. He doesn't strike me as a max player. I'd much much rather they sign Aldridge.

can't shoot, doesn't practice fts, and doesn't develop low post moves. wait couple years when he starts to lose his athleticism.

he'll just be a be a lazy bum with a huge contract.

He's definitely not a max-contract player. He has nothing more to his game than the edge his height gives him with rebounds.

Balmer and Doc are a dangerous combo!

Extremely short window of limited productivity.

If you took away the 3-pointer and the free-throw, then maybe.

people love to point to his FT %. Sweet, he doesn't shoot well at the FT line, almost every center is the same. Deandre is the worst of them but who gives a shit about his FT %. He is #1 in FG %, #1 in rebounding, is an absolute beast on defense. I'm not saying he's absolutely a max contract guy, but he's worth a ton. At least $15 mill a year. You could put Deandre on another team and he would be a Demarcus Cousins type player, but he's got Griffin and CP3 so he takes a back seat on offense.

But, he is a monster. He can't make his FTs? Big deal - he rebounds, makes his field goals, sets great picks, is a fantastic defender. Really not much more you can want in a big man.

"Makes his field goals"... Have you ever watched the dude play? All his "field goals" are dunks, most of them being created by Blake and CP3.

He could absolutely not be Demarcus Cousins on another team. He has no post game and even if he had one you could just foul him and send him to the line. Cousins is a very good free throw shooter which is a big part of what makes him such a force on offense.

lol demarcus cousins. demarcus cousins is 100x better on offense. he's just a lazy defender.

if jordan had demarcus cousins offensive skills then he'd be a max player no doubt but with his lack of offense, he's a waste in cap space imo.

not just that, for a center, he handles the ball like a small forward.

Agree with some of this but he is not a tremendous defender. 40 year old Tim Duncan was scoring at will inside in multiple games in that series. He is a great rebounder and makes dunks, but other than that he is average to poor in everything else. Also, when he goes up against elite centers his rebound total drops off significantly

The clippers can't stop anybody so they should offer Lamarcus Aldrigde a Dwight Howard type deal and go with that big 3 instead of DJ.

i'd take lamarcus aldridge over jordan. not sure if portland would do a trade though. he was playing with a bad thumb for a long time. he should be fully healthy next year.

Aldridge is a free agent. He's most likely staying in Portland or going back to Texas to play for the Mavs or Spurs. Really hope Dallas gets him. I think he's the best PF in the league, at worst top 3 (Blake, Davis).

    Aldridge is injury prone.

One thing to remember that none of these moron franchise execs do. When you sign a guy to a max contract make sure he hasn't played his best game yet.

if that's the case, offering jordan max contract instead of aldridge is more foolish.

yeah let's give a guy max contract for having potential and being lazy. how has jordan improved in the past few seasons? what makes you think he'll improve by getting more money? what would be his motivation?

It's also a matter of who they think they can get. Marc Gasol is a free agent too. Most likely staying in Memphis.

Maybe some of that Portland jinx on him. For a Blazer he's actually been pretty healthy.

Not sure he's played his best yet. At least not on the big stage. He's had good games in the playoffs but no meaningful runs yet.
