Coach Pop needs to stop whining.

Yeah, like that last whistle cost his Spurs the series.

    Get over it.

I lost all respect for him, that whistle did not cost him the game and the series.

Pop wanted to intentially foul Jordan out of timeout with lead about 1 min left. He came to half court and was demonstrative about it. Doc saw and subbed Jordan back out. Pop fcked up big time. He lost them them game

his reputation took a major hit when he single-handedly cost the Spurs the 2013 Finals by sitting Duncan at the Game 6 against the Heat. who makes a move like that? not even an elementary school basketball coach would sit their best player in that scenario.

worst coaching move in the history of the NBA and it's barely mentioned anymore.

No one is perfect, Im sure he regrets that decision too. His rep will never take a hit because he is the best coach of this generation and firmly on the mount rushmore of all time NBA coaches. He's 6-3 in WCF's, 5-1 in NBA finals, should be 6-0 if it wasnt for the mentioned series. Guy has 18 straight seasons of 50+ wins. .685 regular season win %, .616 playoff win %... and let's honest, he never really had the most talent like Phil Jackson or Pat Riley did. He's the best in game coach ever, without question.

definitely no one's perfect and calling him overrated isn't fair either, but that decision in the 2013 Finals was so utterly dumbfounding, it was as if his brain had been abducted by aliens. he literally handed the Heat the title after it had already been wheeled onto the court for the Spurs.

He went retarded in that finals. It was all clear after they lost game 7 when he was celebrating with wade and James as if he was there coach.

This the same guy who wouldnt foul up 3 because he says thats what they do in Europe but he doesnt do it, yet fouls Jordan every chance he gets just to get the ball back, stubborn and overrated. Totally abandoned the style he used to win games in the series.

Pop bitching about the shot clock and foul calls towards the end of the game is fine. There were legitimate problems that ****** the Spurs beyond their play that should be addressed. The reason they lost the series is all on them though. In fact I place the blame squarely on Pop this series. He's a first ballot HOF coach but his downfall this series was his loyalty to Tony Parker and Manu Ginoubli. Tony Parker and Manu were either injured or severely regressed to the point where they are liabilities on the court. Not putting Cory Joseph on CP3 in the series cost them 1-2 games too since he's a better defender than Mills/Parker at this point.

I agree Joey, when Parker and Manu were out they were better, Spurs should have no doubt won this series.

He also could have had the Mavs in the first round if he didn't dump games for rest.

He had to do his NBA/WWE do diligence. NBA and WWE are the same thing. SOmebody fakes some contact ref reacts accordingly everybody boos. THere is theme music, signage. Its the same shit. AN NBA line-up announcement is the exact same thing as a wwe entrance. Smoke, music, strobe lights, fog machines, motorcycles revving up. Dancers same thing as ring girls.

I cringe during the NBA pre-game when they announce a 2nd or 3rd year guy that avg less than 4 points less than 1 rebound a game and everyone cheers.

About five years ago, then champ John Cena was to headline a big WWE event.
Cena was the draw of the event. 2 weeks before the event, Cena suffers a legit neck/vertebrae inury.
Can't wrestle for 4 months minimum, pretty much can't do anything for at least one month.
Vince comes out publicly, says "I know most of you bought your tickets on the premsis that Cena was going to fight"
Long story short, McMahon offered full refunds, or swap tickets for future show.

Let's see the Atlanta Hawks do that the next time they sit Horford/Korver/Milsap/Teague for a full game.

Amazing that a bunch of bums who have never coached a game in their life can know more about coaching than a guy with five titles.
