Marc Gasol for his career averages 14 points a game and 8 rebounds a game is not the best center in the game.

    Good night

To say Marc Gasoi is the best center in the game is ignorant.
Since you only look at stats and clearly have never seen Gasol play. And the only thing you know about basketball is reading the stat line . My friend you win. Boogie , Jordan , and Drummond have all won rings right (obvs not, 2 of them have never even sniffed a playoff race ) Which was one of ur arguments to bring down Gasol? Lol. Ask anybody that knows basketball and sees what Gasol brings to Memphis and they'll tell you top 3 . At worst. Because he is the best defender in the game at his position .

Go keep looking at stats my friend. Maybe you come up with something more than the basics that a 7 year old reads. When you find a good one at least then respond .

Talk about a rollercoaster of a career:

"On June 24, 2010, Whiteside was drafted with the 3rd pick in the 2nd round of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. On July 19, he signed a four year, $3.8 million contract with the Kings. The first two years of the deal were guaranteed for $1.76 million.[8]
On November 29, 2010, Whiteside was assigned to the Kings' D-League affiliate, the Reno Bighorns.[9] Whiteside was recalled back to the Kings on January 9, 2011.[10]
On March 5, 2011, Whiteside had surgery to repair a partially torn tendon in his left knee, which sidelined him for the season.[11] He only appeared in one game with the Kings during his rookie season.
In January 2012, Whiteside was assigned once again to the Reno Bighorns of the NBA D-League.[12] On February 4, Whiteside was recalled to the Kings for the second time.[13]
On July 16, 2012, Whiteside was waived by the Sacramento Kings.[14]
On December 14, 2012, Whiteside was acquired by the Sioux Falls Skyforce.[15] On January 4, 2013, Whiteside was traded to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in exchange for Damian Saunders.[16] After the D-League season, he joined Amchit Club in Lebanon.[17]
On May 26, 2013, Whiteside joined the Sichuan Blue Whales (NBL) in China. He played 27 games averaging 25.7 points (56.4% shooting), 16.6 rebounds, 5.1 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game. He was named Defensive Player of the Year, Center of the Year, and was selected to the All-NBL 1st Team. The Blue Whales went undefeated in the playoffs en route to the NBL Championship. Whiteside was awarded Finals MVP.[18][19]
In November 2013, Whiteside signed with Al Mouttahed Tripoli of the Lebanese Basketball League.[20] He was released in April 2014.[21] The next month, he joined Jiangsu Tongxi of China, before leaving them in June after 17 games.[22]
On September 25, 2014, Whiteside signed with the Memphis Grizzlies.[23] However, he was later waived by the Grizzlies on October 22, 2014.[24] On October 30, 2014, he was reacquired by the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Two days later, his rights were traded to the Iowa Energy.[25] He officially joined the Energy on November 14, 2014.[26] On November 19, he re-signed with the Grizzlies.[27] However, he was waived again the next day.[28] On November 22, he re-joined Iowa.[29]
    Miami Heat
On November 24, 2014, Whiteside signed with the Miami Heat.[30] On December 13, he was assigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce,[31] but was recalled two days later.[32] On January 4, 2015, he recorded his first career double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks in the 88-84 win over the Brooklyn Nets.[33]"

I never said Marc Gasol is garbage, but he's not a top five center right now.

Almost been waiting for this thread, he's made the Heat watchable again for the neutral.

I think he turns the ball over to much imo but haven't looked at stats to back that claim up (seems pretty easy to steal off and needs to watch the offensive fouls), but he's young and to be expected. Scores with ease when he doesn't lose it or offensive foul and is a force on the boards. That 20/20 was epic tonight.

That triple double he got a few games back was so good also, from memory he had the boards and points but needed around three blocks with not much time left and just went next level and got it with ease!

*Just went and checked it was against the Bulls in Chicago and he swatted away four in the last 1.32!

If this is joke Gasol is MVP of the league as of right now. Why does Memphis win if he is not the best center in the league?

If Lebron James saw this coming he would have thought twice about "coming home", starting Whiteside and shifting Bosh back to power forward and together with Lebron and Wade would put the heat right back on track as a contender. Whiteside offers the kind of inside prescence that has been lacking since Shaq left the heat and he really is the last missing piece.

Gasol has been successful now for years while this year is an anomaly in Whiteside's career performance so far. But putting aside the sample size argument and the fact that Whiteside will likely return to mean performance it's ridiculous to say that Marc Gasol isn't a top 3 center. Maybe in regards to counting stats others can put up better blocks and rebounds but that's disregarding the fact that Gasol is also very adept at moving the ball on offense and a much better FT shooter than most centers. He doesn't derive his value from assisted dunks at the rim (Like DeAndre Jordan) or on putbacks like Drummond (who is a very poor post defender btw). Whatever team has Gasol on it will play better on both ends over other centers period (save for maybe Boogie, Bogut and maybe B.Lopez if he can stay healthy). It's like saying Roy Hibbert has no value as a center because he doesn't rebound much even though he's one of the best rim protectors in the league.

To the other guy I got angry with last night, I aoplogize, but I still say Cousins is best.

Let me break it down for ya slow Steve. Lebron came to Miami because Wade was there and Bosh was gonna come also. Like the big three did it in Boston slow Steve. Lebron went back to Cleveland but needed Kevin Love on the team. Now Slow steve i was making a sarcastic comment that Miami team right now is possibly better than the one Lebron left (both Miami teams without Lebron). So i sarcastically said Lebron wants to comeback (since they are a little better) and he will seal the deal if Durant comes also. What i am really saying is Jordan tried to beat the best players. Lebron wants them all on his side.

What u did here in ur very first post is make a claim about a guy u never watched and all u did is read his stats lately. Then u make a claim just like u do with all your copy and paste nonsense. I was gonna actually congratulate u on going thru a whole thread without one of ur copy and paste classic's but i see u ended up going there. Have u ever had a debate with your own words? I doubt it.

Whiteside is the real deal! He just need's to stay out of foul trouble. He's Miami's future as Wade and Bosh are in their 30's. Whiteside is a Rodman that can actually score and block.

WTF you talking about, I've seen 8 or so of his starts this year. I didn't pay 199 for the NBA ticket for nothing.
No where have I posted did I mention I have never seen him play.
Point it out to me, win valuable prizes.

I've seen about 10 Heat games this year, of those Whiteside has played in 7 or 8 of them.
His problem is he commits too many dopey fouls.

Whiteside has really developed nicely, but he will never be able to hold Dwight Howard's jock and neither will Gasol or Jordan.
