I am terrible at Fantasy Basketball. I was really good at Football but down $150 in basketball in less than two weeks. I am a pure donk!

I find that the contests with a large number of entries but smaller teams/player pools are the most profitable. Unless you just completely luck your way into a perfect lineup, you need to have multiple entries.

The NBA is a huge time investment for research with coaches resting players who aren't injured. Sometimes that shit isn't even announced until minutes before game time. I just started playing around with NBA so take my advice with a grain of salt.

jj post your lineup for tonight's NBA contests.

I do baseball. You have to spend a lot of time on it to be successful. Can't imagine doing it for the NBA. Pretty much have to be at your computer when the lineups come out

Yeah the biggest must do is knowing who is injured and who is replacing them. That is how you win by getting cheap guys who are filling in for starters while they are hurt and producing like a starter while valued as a bench player.

Then you can get down to estimating performance with these sites/tools.

    http://nbawowy.com/

That site will tell you who is going to capitalize on Player A being out of the line up.

    http://www.82games.com/

This site will tell you where the weakness is on every teams defense and what position to attack. For instance if you want someone vs the Atlanta Hawks. You want a Center as that is where they are weakest on D and maybe want to stay away from SFs as they D them up good .

A lot of other useful stuff on that site too for gambling like what 5 man unit is on the floor when the team plays best.If they are missing a link you check the likely new 5 man unit.

    True

It's a cheap sweat though. I'm not a nerd with a spreadsheet so it's like buying a lotto ticket.

the big contests are fun, but cash games are like sitting down at a high stakes poker game. All the sharks just feast on the fish.

bwt the fanduel commerials are bogus when they have the people talk about their winnings.

I've "won" over 60 grand according to the history page. It's total amount won....not what your up.

    I played a lot in 2013.

Had good success in baseball and football.

I couldn't grasp basketball. It was just too inconsistent. It just seemed like too many variables at play.

I don't play any of it anymore. It's too much work. I'm a gambler, and gamblers are lazy.

Last nights NBA results: 17$ spent on 2 different lineups, 16$ returned. I lost 1.00.

Going big tonight. 3 lineups for 14 contests. 34$ invested. I spent about an hour researching and playing with lineups. So I'm really in for about a G. My time is valuable.

Thanks mikemca for the resources. Good stuff.

No reason one can't do both. Btw, South Florida +6.5 and BC +12.5

Target games with higher over/unders, avoid paying up for starters if it's gonna be a blowout, target cheap players picking up more minutes than normal due to injuries (eg JJ Barea tonight; Rondo out, Harris banged up, $3400 for a starting PG in a game with an O/U of 218).

Don't be scared to pay up for stars, but better be damn sure they're good for 45+ (Steph Curry tonight) or you're wasting your salary. Stick to teams whose rotations you know; nothing worse than ending up with a bench player who only gets a few minutes. If you can pick up a few players in the $3000-$4000 range who can get you ~30 pts you'll have more salary left over to grab more talent and big names..I like to start with the best cheap options I can find and build my team around them.

Zeller getting the start for BOS over Sullinger due to Sully missing shoot around again, should be a good option for $4100 against Denver who doesn't defend bigs well

    THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pay up for Westy and Steph tonight at PG
Dion Waiters is a great punt play on FD at SG GREAT value at 4800

Consider the Bucks combo of Middleton and Dudley for short money

Love 'V'-man at center (Toronto) Chandler for Mavs too.
Brook Lopez is a solid play.
