Will we ever see another Shaq in our lifetime?

An unstoppable beast that absolutely terrorizes the entire NBA for years.

Will we see another one in our lifetime?

I really do hope so. And there will be. Soon. All I see now are 'slim shaqs' running around the court heaving bad mid range jumpers.

Black kid on Duke Okafor is a pretty sick big man and is almost a Shaq clone except for not being 7'1 barefoot, it is going to almost impossible to find a guy 7'1 barefoot guy with the raw athleticism and power of Shaq Diesel

    Shaq was a monster.
It could be quite some time before we see someone like him, and possible we never even see it in our lifetimes.
The NBA is much more athletic now as well, so it would be tougher for a guy like Shaq if he was coming up right now.
Basketball is no longer a big man's game and there is no art to the offense anymore.
Bakc in Shaq's time was definitely the best basketball most of us have ever witnessed, with dominant Centers being a major factor on teams.

Fifteen fouls a game anyone would be unstoppable. He was so great that at the end of the game he became a liability.

This league caters to the good black guy who do everything the league wants. Shack father was a military man so Shack had discipline. Shack was Sterns money maker so Shack could play anyway he wanted because he wasn't out there throwing up gang signs and all that nonsense. The guy couldn't hit a shot outside of five feet. The problem with people who watch sports is their limited attention spans. Go watch some of the footage of the Finals where Shack would always have Rick Smitts in foul trouble right from the start. All touch fouls or phantom fouls. It got to be so obvious that Smitts would laugh after the third fouls shake his head and walk off the court. Guys like Carmelo and Iverson latter in the latter part of his carreer will never succeed in this leauge and u can throw in Westbrook and Dwight Howard as never winning the title unless they change their ways. Howard pissed off Stern by moving out of that big market in LA to fuk the league and the Lakers, and go to Houston. They will never forget that. Eventually if Westbrro doesn't change they will move him because Durant is everything they want to promote the league.

Lmao...if theres no art to offense anymore, then Shaq would be a perfect fit for this era.

While Ill agree that 90s might have been the best era when it came to big men...I personally enjoy the more wide open game today. Could only watch so many times shaq push somebody under the basket, turn around and dunk on them, or get fouled and brick the foul shots.

looks like u saw the same Shaq that i did lol. Hakeem use to make him look silly. Now there is a center. Not some gorilla getting handled with kid gloves by the officials so the league could rake in even more money.

I vote no. Because big guys learn a lot when they are young and in college. But now they want to just do 1 and done, so they don't learn a lot of the skills they need to be dominant.

A few guys come to mind that if they went to college for 2 or 3 years they would have dominated even more in the NBA:
    Andrew Bynum
    Dwight Howard
    Demarcus Cousins

Of cours we will. Some huge black beast will come along within the next 10 years. Dwight came close but then his career derailed. If Dwight kept up his production from Orlando, he would have been the next Shaq.

NBA is really going away from that style of game, so kids will change their style of game to fit the needs. Teams like 7'0 PF/Center who can slash to the basket, but also pull up for a jumper. The big center who can shoot a jumper, and back to the basket is really going out.

voted no. I don't think we will see another big center that is truly shaq-nificent.

Most physically dominating NBA player that I have seen in my lifetime.

Of course not. Dwight is the closest and he's nowhere near as dominant as Shaq was. Most underrated player of all time. Just insanely dominant.
