Do The Rockets Need A New Head Coach?

Kevin McHale is getting out coached by Stotts. Defense is not a priority, except for Dwight Howard, and Patrick Beverly. Stupid plays being made like when Lin dribbled the ball out, instead of calling time out in Game 4. This young team needs a firm NBA hand. I vote for Jeff Van Gundy to come back.

Dwight howard is dumb as rocks and has no desire to win..he wants to get paid and get laid. parsons..good offensive player no defense....what is McHale suppose to do? you cant turn pigs into princesses..in my opinion McHale has done well...Portland is a better team top to bottom

How about that D on the last play? Terrible setup, you have Parsons chasing Lillard with no chance and they didn't even need a screen to get free.

They need new players. Name one coach who won an NBA championship with average players.

This team continues to crash in the 4th quarter. They did it during the season, and they really did it in this series. I blame that on coaching. Its up to the coach to take the lead on mental toughness. When you blow as many 4th quarters as this team has, game planning has a lot to do with it also. Yeah, you can say they are a young team, and will get better, but this has been a consistent problem. This team has gone from A to B, but they will need a proven coach to take them from B to C.

With the best center and top 2 or 3 shooting guard on its roster, Houston should beat any team put in front of them in the first round. Mchale is not the answer. I would definitely look at hiring Scott brooks who can't coach offense, which is not Houston's problem. Defense is. Mchale seems to be a decent offensive coach, let him coach the thunderless.

Harden top 2 SG - no. Top 3 - maybe

    Bryant
    Wade
A lot of guys can be 3

    It's not all about offense.

Harden took 37 shots 1 game...and had like 36 pts
If bryant or wade take 37 shots, they score 50.

Houston had no supporting cast, and didn't have mentally tough players.

    It's not the coach.

    McHale is a good coach.

He tried to motivate these guys.

Parsons is a loser, no cold blood in veins

Harden the same - a great player, but is he cold blooded?

There is no GENERAL on this team

Teams with no general don't win it all

Love watching Harden take control of the ball late in the 4th with the game on the line and watching him throw up a fade away brick. Now there's something I wish I could bet on.

This is 2014, not 2004. Harden runs circles around Kobe and wade today. Factoid. Harden played in more games and scored twice as many points than Kobe and wade combined this season.

Read that the Rockets are keeping McHale. They feel they owe him another year with this young team. Maybe McHale needs to get some guidance from some former coaches, like Howard did with Olajuwon.

No team built around Howard will ever win. He will never get to the finals again unless he is riding someone's coattails. That one lucky season made his reputation and career. Also, Harden is a secondary player on a good team. He's basically Gilbert Arenas with an ugly ass beard.

Agree. You have two secondary players attitude-wise trying to be alpha dogs in Harden and Howard. Neither can fill that role, no matter how much they pretend or say otherwise. You can mask it somewhat with a take-charge PG, but they don't have that either. It's really a horribly constructed roster.

Bryant played like 4 games this year you fool and Wade has been resting all you. you saying Harden runs circles around 2 of the top 3 sgs of all time is a statement that shows you know nothing about basketball. You think Harden is better right now than Dwayne Wade?

    what an idiot

Go look at Wade's shooting % this year and get back to me.

Harden can't play defense for shit either

That's why when the top 10 players list came out for this year, who was on it? Wade and Bryant. Who wasn't on it? Harden. Why? Because he is one of the most overrated players in NBA.

If Harden wasn't so worried about always trying to draw cheap fouls he could be a top 6 or 7 player in the league. His lack of effort is the biggest issue on defense. He could never be a great defender but he doesn't even try to stop anyone.

Lin is a perfectly serviceable backup PG, he just should be handling the ball in crunch time. This series was as close as they come, yet some fools are saying that Portland is a better team top to bottom. Portland was better only at 1 and 4 spots, Houston was better at 2 and 5 and SF was a wash; but the Houston's bench should have won that series. I tend to agree that McHale just does not know how to coach in playoffs, and it is probably too late for him to learn. He'd be perfect for a rebuilding team like Philly.

He is better than most backup guards
