SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:


Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

Utah Jazz +7.5: While San Antonio has won their last two road games by a combined total of 78 points, they are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games. Included in this streak is an outright loss to Boston, a one-point win over Detroit and a four-point victory over New Orleans. Now granted Utah has incredibly lost nine straight games ATS, but they have won four of their last five games straight up, which is actually more important considering that they are decided underdogs in here. The Jazz have already upset the Spurs outright twice this season, and at the very least we look for Utah to take this game down to the wire.

Memphis Grizzlies +8: Yes, the Sonics have won two straight games without Ray Allen, but they were big underdogs in both of those games. Now they are suddenly eight-point favorites, and remember that Seattle is a dismal 14-19-2 against the spread at home this season while winning those contests by a scant average of +0.6 points per game. Remember also that the Sonics are 0-6-1 ATS in their last seven home games, and that they lost by 41 points to San Antonio the last time they played here. Now Memphis has had a miserable season, but the Grizzlies have now won two straight games on the road, and this is a young team that should not be bothered much by playing on consecutive nights. We will go for the value play here and grab this boatload of points.

Like the Wizards in this spot. Toronto not playing well on the road lately, Wizards back to full strength. Only worry is I am terrible on the Wizards. they will probably wiin this game by 3.

Memphis/Seattle over 202.5 - last couple of meeting have been well over, and i know both teams have significant injuries, but when bad teams play each other late in the year, there are usually a lot of points or a very low amount. I'm betting lots of pts in this game.

Phoenix - 7.5: The Nuggets blew out the Suns at home a couple weeks ago and should be looking for revenge tonight at home. Phoenix also comes off a loss at Golden St. last night and should be focused against a Denver team they may meet in the first round of the playoffs. Denver lost at home Wednesday to Seattle after finishing a disappointing 2-3 on a road trip where 4-1 was well within their grasp (losing on a last 2nd tip in to Chicago and losing in OT to Detroit after giving up a half court 3ptr at the buzzer). This is a Nuggets team that can be very good or very bad, and usually a bit of both. I do think Denver matches up well with the Suns, however in this spot Phoenix should get an easy win.

New York +13.5: It's hard to see Dallas being to motivated tonight with a matchup @ Phoenix coming on Sunday. Dallas beat the Knicks by 15 on the road just 10 days ago, which gives another reason for them to overlook this game. The Knicks are coming off a solid win as a dog against Cleveland and should be able to keep this one close.

Ok here goes one last stab at profitability for the month.

Milwaukee +5 I am confused by this line. I have the Bucks as anywhere from a pk to +2 so I am taking the points and running. A trap? Maybe but I'm gonna bite.

Washington -4.5 Toronto is banged up right now and haven't shown the same moxy at home as they have on the road.
