Alright, so with this being my first post, I figured I may as well introduce myself along with my horrible history of betting outside of sportsbooks.
I've always made bets on Pro-line. Always. I'm not an informed sports gambler by any means. I knew the sportsbooks existed but was never really comfortable with betting large sums of money. I became accustomed to Pro-line's system and now, after seeing the wager options offered by sportsbooks, I realize now that Pro-line is a complete waste of money and there's really no hope to make a profit by playing it daily.
So, to sum up my journey here. I was looking for different opinions on some games I was wagering on (with Pro-line, of course) and stumbled upon this site. I also noticed the top ranked sportsbook was Pinnacle, and so I joined. Since then, I've made a few bets on the NBA (all teasers), and now my record stands at 11-2. So I figured why not have some fun with it?
You'll all notice that my bets are teasers. I see a lot of people say parlays/teasers are sucker bets, and while that may be true, this is what I'm use to. For me, I've always been so close with spreads that the teasers are a perfect fit for the way I bet. So I'm gonna ride this train for a while.
The plan is to start small, VERY small, and eventually build up the account to have a big enough cushion to comfortably risk $100+ on a game. The amount that I'm betting on the games now is laughable, so I won't bother posting the actual amounts I'm wagering..
So for today... (Nov. 29th) 4 -game, 4 pt Teaser.
Orlando Magic (-2) vs New York Knicks for Game (-105)
I'm not a huge fan of betting on teams playing back-to-backs, especially with the way the Magic played last night. Thing is... they've won 5 straight on the road and I can't see that streak being snapped by a team whose record is 1-7 at home. Orlando has played horribly in the first half the last two games, but that was against teams with decent records. I can't see the same thing happening against the Knicks. The Knicks just don't have the size to battle Dwight down low and look for Rashard to create matchup problems for a porous Knicks D.
Boston Celtics (+0.5) vs Miami Heat for Game (-102)
Boston's offense have been rolling lately, while their defense has left more to be desired. That doesn't matter against the Heat though, as they don't really have great scorers to contend with Boston's D. This is the first game of Boston's road trip and I'm gonna ride them before the trip takes its toll on them. The Big 3 or Dwyane Wade? Hmm...
Philadelphia 76ers vs San Antonio Spurs (-6) for Game (+101)
Lou Williams is out for 2 months, and they have a rookie taking the helm in his stead. When you have a rookie running the offense against a veteran team like the Spurs (who, mind you, is at home AND healthy) you're gonna run into problems.
New Jersey Nets vs Los Angeles Lakers (-10) for Game (-102)
They're saying this is the last game for Coach Lawrence Frank, and what a way to go. The Lakers WILL win this game, and I see it being a blowout by the start of the 2nd quarter.
The odds are 3 to 1 with these picks. Wish me luck.
