He knew he needed another season even though he was regarded as one of the best players in America.

Then he gets even better his junior year, wins national player of the year honors, and still said it wasn't 100% that he was ready for the draft (even though he eventually declared).

Now, all of these teams pick guys based on "potential" and "projections." You give guys who haven't proven anything a ton of money, and then expect them to develop their game. It's ass-backwards. As a result, 85% of the guys picked are flops.

Doug McDermott is a good example. He'll get picked mid first round because he isn't athletic enough and doesn't play good enough D. He's a completely polished offensive product, though, and he'll make some borderline playoff team very happy while flunkees like the Pistons trip all over themselves trying to find the next "diamond in the rough." The whole system is a joke these days.
great points, the college and professional games are so different you never know how a player will transaction to the next level. especially big men. For example a couple years ago Utah took Enes Kanter 3rd overall simply because they thought he had the potential even though he didn't play a single game that year in Kentucky due to NCAA rules. Now it seems like after the top 10 or so you're pretty much out of talent and after that its just a bunch of guys who will go on to become role players at best.

There aren't many guys from the Draft who actually make it year in and year out when you look back. That number seems to dwindle more and more by the season.

I don't get the mindset towards the NBA here. You all hate it so much and constantly complain about it, yet still bet on it and continue to complain about it.

Not calling a timeout though makes zero sense and I would fire that fck on the spot. He obviously doesn't give a fck.
